It seems hard to believe, but today marks the end of Quarter 1. Grades will be finalized next week, and you can expect report cards to become available by the afternoon of November 9th. Sign-ups for Report Card conferences will be posted on ParentSquare on November 6th at 6:00 PM. We look forward to inviting families into TE for conferences on December 1st, 3rd, and 4th to discuss your child's progress so far. More information about sign ups is included below.
You can also expect your child's iReady Reading and Math scores to be shared securely through ParentSquare today. These scores serve as only one data point to help gauge student progress, and aids in our efforts to match learners to appropriate strategies, supports, and enrichment. There is more information below.
Small taste of Our Celebrations
- The TEMS Mentoring Program celebrated its 25th anniversary. In honor of this incredible milestone, an event was held to recognize the program's founders—Jean Wrenn, Cyndi Yakobian, and Dr. Weinberger—along with all former mentors and mentees. Local elected officials, including Andrew Paterna, Saud Anwar, and Tom and Audrey Delnicki, joined the festivities and offered official citations commemorating this incredible program. I would like to extend a special thanks to our current program leaders- Mrs. Tara Kozik and Mrs. Kathy Reed for keeping this going strong.
- The TE Writing Center tutors attended the UCONN Writing Conference. This was an incredible day of learning and networking, that also served as a wonderful oportunity to visit the UCONN campus.
- The Robotics Teams hosted our first school wide dance and raised money to start their design process.
- We are nearing the end of the PTO Move-A-Thon Fundraiser. There is still time to donate- click here.
- Student Council hosted our first spirit week and ends today with some Halloween flair!
- Fall athletics have come to a close with incredible seasons by each of our fall teams. Girls and boys soccer dominated throughout the season and finished as CRAL champions. TEMS hosted the CRAL XC Meet and both ours boys and girls came out on top. Our field hockey players are stars on and off the field-the girls raised money as part of their annual bake sale with all proceeds going to support a South Windsor family. Winter athletics registration is open now- see more information below.
Have a wonderful month, and in the spirit of gratitude- thank you to all the veterans in our community who make our country proud.

This month, all Timothy Edwards Middle School students completed their iReady benchmark assessments in reading and math. These assessments help us better understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth.
You can expect your child’s iReady assessment information electronically through ParentSquare today. Please note that these scores are not part of your child’s quarter grades, but they are an important tool that helps teachers tailor instruction and connect students with appropriate resources and programs. This links to a guide that may help answer questions about your child’s report.
Some students may also take additional screening assessments with our reading or math interventionists. These screeners help us determine whether extra support during our WIN (What I Need) period could further accelerate learning. Families will be notified if a student is entering or exiting an academic intervention.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting your child’s learning and growth.

In partnership with South Windsor Youth and Family Service and the South Windsor Police Department, we are excited to offer this opportunity for families to watch the newly released documnetary, Screenagers, Generation AI. Screentime, social media, and AI are impacting adolescents in profound ways. Come join us to learn more about setting healthy tech limits, and how to talk about technology with your middle schooler.

CougarTHON is back and ready to make a difference in children's health! CougarTHON is a group of Timothy Edwards students who work directly with the UConn students who run HuskyTHON to raise money, support, and awareness for Connecticut Childrens -- our local Miracle Network children's hospital.
For our first fundraising event of the school year, we are hosting a school-wide Penny Wars! From November 9th to November 13th, bring in your spare change or dollars to your homeroom teacher. The team that raises the most money will earn a movie day! All money raised will be donated directly to Connecticut Children's.
But that's not all! To show our support for HuskyTHON, we (as well as the other elementary, middle, and high schools apart of HuskyTHON) are hosting a UConn Spirit Day on Friday, November 13th! Be sure to wear your navy and white to school (Roll 'Skies!)

Do you love to wrap? Are you the person who gets way too excited about wrapping paper? Or maybe you’re just willing to help make our teachers feel appreciated!
We’re looking for someone to help with Teacher Wishes, and it’s actually pretty simple: You wrap. We deliver. Our teachers smile.
You’ll receive a box of already sorted Teacher Wishes items, wrap everything at home, bring the wrapped gifts back to school, and help us deliver them to the classrooms.
We estimate the total time will be about 3–6 hours — but you definitely don’t have to do it alone! Grab 5 friends, put on some music, grab some snacks, and have a wrapping party! What could take one person several hours could become a quick and fun afternoon with friends.
And don't worry — these do NOT need to look like they came straight off a Pinterest board! We’re going for wrapped, not award-winning gift wrapping.
If you’re willing to help, please reach out to the PTO at any of the following:
It’s a small way to make a BIG difference for our teachers!

The daily TETV Morning News serve as our primary vehicle for communicating important information to students each day. This is where students can learn about upcoming events, tryouts, clubs and activities, and current events. In addition to playing during homeroom each day you can access the daily news on our school website.

Students and staff are encouraged to use our district and TE databases/resources while completing school assignments. Students can access TE’s Online Library Resource page by navigating to the TEMS homepage, Departments and then Library Media Center. While on the main TEMS LMC page, students click on, "TEMS Online Library Resources." Please note, this is a Google Site accessible only to TE students signed into their Google Workspace for Education accounts.
Students can come see me in the library or email me at elongo@southwindsorschools.org if they have any questions.
Thank you,
