Multilingual Learners
South Windsor Public Schools Multilingual Learner Program
Who is a Multilingual Learner?
A Multilingual Learner (ML) is a multilingual student who may have a primary or home language other than English. All new registrants are screened for eligibility based upon a home language survey, given during registration. Students are then given an English proficiency assessment to determine if they qualify for ML instruction.
Parent Bill of Rights for English Learners/Multilingual Learners
The Connecticut State Department of Education created the Parent Bill of Rights for English Learners/Multilingual Learners. This document outlines the rights of multilingual learner students and families and is provided both in print and on school websites.
