Our TEMS Move-A-Thon is officially underway, and we’re asking our TEMS families, friends, grandparents, neighbors, and community to help us reach our $45,000 goal!
This year, we’re asking each student to TRY to raise $50. It doesn’t have to come from one person — share your student’s fundraiser with family and friends and let your community help you get there!

I am happy to share the brochure for our Fall Matinees. Each option runs for 6 weeks after school from 2:45-4:00, beginning the week of October 26th. Click here for the brochure. This will also be shared as its own post this evening.
Registration for these courses begins on Monday, September 28th at 6:00 PM on Parent Square. Please only register for ONE session/student. The cost for each session is $50, and payment can be sent into the main office (cash of check) or through the invoice on Parent Square that will be sent at the end of the registration period.

Yearbook sales are now open! This is a great way to remember all of the special moments from this school year.
The current price is $43, but the price will increase to $45 on October 23rd, so be sure to order early!
8th grade families also have the opportunity to purchase a special 8th Grade Ad for your student. These ads are a wonderful way to celebrate your 8th grader and their accomplishments as they get ready to move on to high school. Families can create a personalized page featuring photos, a special message, or both. The ads will appear in the back of the yearbook.

We are excited to announce the return of the Halloween Costume Dance. The dance will be held on Friday October 23rd from 6-8pm. Costumes are encouraged, and there will be a costume contest with winners for Best Individual, Best Duo, and Best Group Costumes. No full face masks or props allowed for safety reasons. So come on out and dance the night away with your classmates and celebrate the spooky season with us. All proceeds will benefit the TEMS Robotics Club. |
At TEMS, we administer benchmark assessments to all learners in the fall and spring. These aren't tests that need to be studied for- instead, these are a chance for students to show what they know. These are not counted towards a student's grade in any class, but the assessments serve as one way teachers match resources and supports to learners. This year, we are launching the use of iReady as our universal screener. More information about this assessment can be found here.
We will be administering our fall assessments beginning next week (dates in ParentSquare calendar) and want to share important tips for success:
- Make sure to sleep well every night and to eat foods that keep our bodies healthy.
- Use test taking strategies like taking your time and reading all questions and directions carefully.
- Stay positive- our children have a diverse range of strengths!
- Students must utilize wired headphones that can be used for benchmark assessments and State SBAC testing. We have these available, but families are encouraged to send personal use ones for their child. Earbuds/Bluetooth devices are not allowed due to testing security.

Rising Grade 9 Night has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 4th. This is a great opportunity for 8th graders to visit the high school with their famlies and to learn more about SWHS. More information will be sent to grade 8 families on October 1st. |
The daily TETV Morning News serve as our primary vehicle for communicating important information to students each day. This is where students can learn about upcoming events, tryouts, clubs and activities, and current events. In addition to playing during homeroom each day you can access the daily news on our school website.

September was a busy month in the Library Media Center! Many classes visited with their ELA teachers or during W.I.N period to check out books. All sixth graders came to the library for orientations focused on call numbers and how to locate library materials. They did a fantastic job putting their new skills into practice. I look forward to getting to know our new sixth graders better this year and to continue supporting our returning seventh and eighth graders. |
This year, CHET will be awarding $350,000 in CHET 529 College Savings Plan account contributions to students in grades K-12 and technology prizes to schools. For the winning students, we will be awarding:
- Three prizes of $20,000
- 24 prizes of $5,000
- 240 prizes of $500
Students can submit an answer to a grade-appropriate question about their dreams or how they could help their community. They can answer by submitting a drawing or painting, essay, or video, and must be included with an entry form.
Submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on November 6. There is no cost to enter. For program details, rules and the entry process, visit: www.chetdreambig.com
A school in our district could be a winner too! Each school that is represented by at least one student’s entry will be eligible for a random drawing for a technology prize worth $5,000 (a total of 10 schools will win a technology prize).

#1 Make the "To Do" Page Your Hub

View All Assignments: Have your child check the "To Do" list found on the main menu. This tab gathers upcoming tasks across all subject areas in one place so nothing slips through the cracks.

Filter by Class: If your child feels overwhelmed looking at every task at once, use the drop-down menu on the "To Do" page to filter assignment lists class-by-class.
#2 Always "Mark as Done" or "Turn In"

Paper Worksheets Count: If an assignment involves a paper worksheet or physical project that is turned in by hand, students still need to click "Mark as Done" on Google Classroom. This stops the assignment from staying flagged as "Missing."

Attach Digital Files First: When submitting digital work, remind students to attach their Google Doc or file before clicking "Turn In."
#3 Additional Useful Classroom Tips

Check the "Done" Tab for Feedback: The "To Do" area has a tab labeled "Done" right next to "Assigned." Encouraging students to periodically review this page allows them to see teacher feedback, returned grades, and teacher comments on past work.

Use the Calendar View: Students can click the Calendar tab in Google Classroom to see a weekly or monthly schedule layout of upcoming due dates, helping them plan ahead for larger projects.

Download the Mobile App for Notifications: Installing the Google Classroom app on a mobile device allows students to receive helpful notifications when new assignments or teacher comments are posted.

Private Comments for Questions: If a student is stuck on a specific assignment at home, they can use the Private Comment feature inside that assignment to send a message directly to their teacher.
