- Good morning TEMS, lately there have been incidents where students are telling us they are "play fighting". Let me make it very clear - "play fighting" is going to be considered fighting - a physical altercation and you will be disciplined accordingly. Also, tonight's dance is a very popular one. Make sure that you behave appropriately because any incidents will result in your not being allowed to go to future dances. Remember the dance ends at 8:30 so make sure your ride is here at that time. Do your best and Strive for Five!

- The TE boys soccer team was in action again last night playing Sage Park Middle School in Windsor. The game was back and forth until late in the second half. With the first half score line of 2-1, compliments of Aadi Dey and Jake Gattuso, the Chargers from Windsor came out with reckless abandon in the second. After tying up the score, the Cougars clawed their way back into the lead with goals from Dey, and Drew Monteserin. Owen Verzella and Vaughan Bizier were tough in the back. The Cougars next play on Monday at JFK in Enfield.

Come hang out with your friends and enjoy some great music and dancing!!! Tickets cost $7 and will be available in the main lobby. Tickets cost $10 at the door. No masks or props are allowed!!

All students interested in being involved in the Entertainers production of Disney's NEWSIES are invited to attend an an informational meeting after school on the last Monday of the month, October 29th in the auditorium. If you like to sing, dance and act or would like to be part of a backstage crew, please join us - no experience required! If you are interested but can’t make the meeting, please see Ms. Petrin in room 131 for more information.
- We will be awarding our Walk-a-Thon prizes on Tuesday. What's up for grabs? A Pizza party! Cash! And Cross team lunches!!! Who will win? Here's a recap of the current leaders. For the $100 cash prizes, Vanshika Vikas from Lime is leading the 6th grade.Anushri Sandeep from Garnet is in the lead for 7th grade and Tony DeMartino from Indigo is in the lead for 8th grade. For the top grade prize of cross team lunch Fridays in November or outside fun time, the 6th grade is in the lead but the 7th grade is close behind!For the Team pizza party, Lime is in the lead followed by Evergreen and Sage. Time is running out. The donation deadline is Monday for our Walk-a-Thon, so be sure to get them in!
- The lady Cougars hosted Sage Park yesterday afternoon in Cougar Stadium. The ladies started the game right out the of gate as Sarah Gordon connected with Lexi Lilly for an opportunity on goal that nearly found the back of the net within the first seconds of the match. The Cougars were energetic in the midfield with supporting plays from Huntyr Courtois, Katelyn Roux, Emily Ledger, and Catherine Downes. Defensive player of the game goes to midfielder Iniya Raja who was instrumental in securing possession and tackling in the midfield. The Cougar defense played an outstanding game with amazing hustle and communication from Sidney Montana, Hailey Testa, and Leighana Ferrabelo. However, the MVP award goes to Arden Sansom who tallied 3 goals on the day demonstrating her composure to finish under pressure. Assists for Sansom came from Lexi Lilly, Hailey Test, and Ritika Abburi. Haley Bulter rounded out the Cougar defense between the pipes. Butler had six saves on the day securing yet another clean sheet for the books. TE look forward to next week where they face JFK on Monday in their last home game of the season. Come on out and support the team!

- The Field Hockey team played their foundation game yesterday afternoon against Stafford Middle School in front of a close to record breaking crowd. The Cougars played a very defensive game and walked away victorious with a score 1-0. TE started off strong, pushing the ball onto Stafford's side of the field and held it there for a good part of the first half. Scoring the only goal of the day was Kaylee Guerera, assisted by Giana Bellody. Stafford then attempted to turn the game around, forcing the ball back on the Cougars side of the field but their plan was spoiled by Rachel Turer, Molly Frank, Sophie Finer and Abby Bergstrom. Each time they snuck the ball into the circle they were rejected by Greta Slater, Avery Fournier, Grace Rich and Maya Swedock playing great defense. Ria Saxena was credited with the shut out, keeping her defense sharp making sure each Stafford attacker was covered. The second game ended in a tie between the Cougars and Stafford. Emily Osit led the charge with Anna Stapleton, Isabelle Goodrich, Avery Pelczar and Morgan Reed. Sophia Flores made several great saves and locked down the shut out. The team would like to thank everyone that came out to support the team and their cause. The teams next home game is Wednesday against JFK of Enfield.
- Congratulations to the girls cross country team on their double win against Sage Park and Two Rivers with final scores of 15 to 53 and 17 to 46, respectively. Audrey Manning was out front and all alone earning herself another 1st place finish followed by Taylor Lord, Maddie Syme, and Riley Baker, who all finished in the top 5 overall. The cold weather brought out the best times with an astounding 31 personal records made by the team including Ella Heredia, who took off 30 seconds while moving up 4 spots on the team, Brooke Stapleton who had a great race running nearly 3 minutes faster than her last time, and Sue Dionne, who was looking speedy as she shed over 5 minutes off her best time. The team is looking forward to their next away meet against Ellington on Tuesday. Run hard, Cougars!
- Thursday afternoon brought some chilly and windy weather, but it couldn't cool down the boys cross country team. The Cougars notched two more victories on to their total, as they defeated Sage Park 15 to 50 and Two Rivers Magnet School 18 to 43. Ares Savvides crossed the line first, taking his first overall victory of the season. Colin Grip ran his strongest race of the year, breaking in to the top 5. Travis Willcox was on a mission as he took over a minute off his best time and tallied a top 10 placement. The hard work is also paying off for Sam Balducci and Kevin Joseph, as they both finished well over a minute under their best times. The team tries to keep the undefeated season going when they travel to Ellington on Tuesday afternoon.

- Our second annual TEMS Walk-A-Thon was a great success! Students, staff, and the Cougar all had a fantastic time! It was so great to have the sunshine! Thank you to all TEMS students, staff, family and friends for your support in making our fundraiser a success! We will declare the individual, team and grade winners after the close of the pledge period next week. But in the meantime, a shout out to Vanshika Vikas who is still holding strong as the 6th grade leader. Timothy Bortolan is in the lead for 7th grade, and Tony DeMartino currently has the lead for 8th. The Lime Team currently has the overall lead for the pizza party, but The Evergreen Team is close behind them! And, we are only about $1400 shy of our school goal! Keep up the great work! Remember the pledge period will close next week on Monday October 22nd.

- On Tuesday, the lady Cougars matched up against East Hartford in what proved to be a one-sided event. In the first half, TE tallied an unassisted game opener from Sarah Gordon. The play was followed by strong tackles in the defensive end by Catherine Downes, Chion Pollard, and Anna Matus. Late in the first half, Emerson Iacovelli snuck a free kick between the pipes off an assist from Mikayla Evans. Iacovelli had two goals on the day. At the break, TE came out strong as Ritika Aburri tapped in her first goal of the season. The goals continued to trickle in as Elise Suffish tallied two assists on the day setting up Arden Sansom, and eventually finding the foot of Haley Butler for her first goal of the season. Sansom had two goals on the day. Outstanding play throughout the game was also had by Emily Legder, Hailey Testa, and Abby Perrucio as the trio were dynamic in securing a 7-0 victory over East Hartford. Yesterday, the Lady Cougars met opponents JFK in a competitive and windy match. The Cougars dropped down by two goals early in the game. Unlike Tuesday's game, the defense was busy with lot’s of action from Leighana Ferrabelo, Sidney Montana, Hailey Testa, and Mikayla Evans. Midfielders Iniya Raja, Huntyr Courtois, and Emily Ledger kept pace in the center of the pitch, and their efforts really started to shine through in the second half. Shots on the day came from Sarah Gordon, Emily Ledger, Arden Samson, and Lexi Lilly. TE host their next home game this afternoon against Sage Park. Come on out and support the Cougars!
- The TE boys soccer team was in action once again last night battling the Patriots of JFK. The first was a bit of a stale mate as the two sides scored one goal apiece. Drew Monteserin drove nicely through the defense and buried his chance to put the Cougars ahead. The Patriots equalized shortly thereafter. In the second half, with the wind at their backs, the Cougars poured it on. Rishabh Mohapatro blazed one home, Josiah Chamberlain scored his first career TEMS goal and Jake Gattuso slotted home a sweet finish to make the score 4-1. Assists were from Aadi Dey, Damian Ayala and Chamberlain. Dylan Hutton, Vaughn Bizier and Xavier Crane were stalwarts on the defensive end as well. The Cougars travel to Sage Park today looking for 3 consecutive wins.

- It's finally here - Walk-A-Thon Day! Thanks to all of your hard work, we are just about $2,500 short of our $20,000 goal! Right now the Lime Team is still in first place for the most pledges raised and if they keep it up, they'll earn the team pizza party for their prize. Watch out though, Teams Evergreen, Sage, Pacific & Garnet aren't far behind! In other news, the grade raising the most pledges so far is the 6th grade! Keep it up 6th grade if you want to earn the Friday cross-team lunch prize! 7th grade is very close to taking the lead. The pledge period ends Monday so if you have any other donations at home, make sure to get them in soon! Thanks again for making our fundraiser a success so far and have fun at the Walk-A-Thon today! You've earned it!!!

- The TE soccer team played last night taking on the Falcons from East Hartford. With the US National team playing last night in East Hartford, the Falcons only brought 12 players. Early in the first half, Drew Monteserin scored on an individual effort, driving past defenders to slot the ball home. Aadi Dey followed up on a goalkeeper error making it 2-0. In the second half the Falcons were not able to keep pace and the Cougars put in three more. Rishabh Mohapatra finished nicely, with an assist from Josiah Chamberlain. Dey added a second of a pass from Jack Stricker and Xavier Crane scored his first ever TE goal off a quick corner kick from Dey. Joey Bemis recorded the shut-out in goal. The Cougars next play today after school against JFK of Enfield.

- Only one more day until Walk-a-Thon Wednesday! Keep your fingers crossed for great weather! If the weather isn't cooperating, we will postpone our walk until next Wednesday, October 24th. In the meantime, keep those pledges coming. We are only $4,000 short of our goal! The pledge period will remain open until Monday, October 22nd. - Now here is Bridget and Ava with cross country news. The boys cross country team finally got another race in on Monday afternoon, and the wet conditions weren't enough to slow the Cougars down. TE traveled to Tolland and notched a solid victory, 23 to 36. Colin Heslin led the team, crossing the line in second overall. Matt Venzie sped his way to a top 10 finish, passing several runners in his impressive final kick. Andres Anastasi and Ethan Burke both showed some sixth grade strength, breaking into the top 20 overall finishers. Elijah Chaimovitch, feeling a couple teeth lighter, flew down the final stretch running his best time of the year. The boys will be back on their home course on Thursday afternoon for the final home meet of the year.
- The girls cross country team suffered their 1st loss of the season to a tough bunch of Tolland runners last night with a final score of 23 to 32. Despite the loss, TE ran strong making it a close race with tremendous finishes. Audrey Manning finished in 2nd overall in a time of 14:06 with Taylor Lord not far behind, who ran a great race as she passed 2 Tolland runners to come in 3rd place of the 59 runners. Many TE girls moved up several places on the team, pushing themselves to new limits including Prisha Thomas and Annaliese Mills, who both moved up 8 places. An especially outstanding effort was made by 6th grader Julia Rondinone who moved up 13 places while taking minutes off her best time. The team looks forward to their final home meet at Nevers this Thursday against Sage Park and Two Rivers. Good luck, Cougars!

- Good Morning TE! On Thursday October 18th, the field hockey team will be having its annual foundation game and bake sale. This years foundation is Make A Wish. Make A Wish is an organization that creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The game and bake sale will take place at the TEMS field hockey field. Proceeds of the bake sale will be donated to the Make A Wish foundation. In addition, the field hockey team will be selling beads in the main lobby before school begins. Beads cost one dollar to purchase. Also, on Thursday October 18th will be hat day. You can bring in one dollar to wear your favorite hat to school. Hope to see you there!

- With the Walk-A-Thon less than a week away, let's give a shout out to our three current top fundraising students. Vanshika Vikas from the Lime Team is the overall leader and has raised over $330 dollars for our school! Close behind are Madelyn Testa from the Evergreen Team and Drew Torres from the Pacific Team. Awesome job guys!!! The Lime Team is in the lead for sixth grade and is also the overall leader with over $2385 raised! The Garnet Team is in the lead for 7th grade and Pacific is in the lead for 8th grade. Keep sharing your fundraising web-page with family and friends. A reminder to the Scarlet Team – Tomorrow is hat day! Bring in $1 and show your team spirit wearing your hat and raising money for your team! - Do you like to help others? Would you like to make a difference in your TE community? Then please consider joining the TEMS Friends Club. It is an after school club that creates opportunities for peer interaction between children with exceptionalities and their peers in a friendly, social, environment. If you are interested in being a mentor in the TEMS Friends Club, please pick up an application from Mrs. Silverman in room 301. The club will meet on Thursdays beginning October 25th.
- The lady Cougars traveled to Ellington yesterday afternoon in a physical and face paced game. The Cougars started by matching Ellington's pace on the ball. Sarah Gordon struck first with a speedy run down the wing and was able to find the back of the net putting the Cougars up 1-0. Throughout the entire game, midfielders Megan Martin, Iniya Raja, and Emily Ledger seemed to never run out of steam as they kept pace with the opposition up and down the pitch. TE's defenders including Sidney Montana, Hailey Testa, Leighana Ferrabelo, and Mikayla Evans played OUTSTANDING and demonstrated true work ethic in their ability to protect the goal. Shots in the second half came from Chion Pollard, Lexi Lilly, and Sarah Gordon as the Cougars pushed forward to secure a victory. However, the effort to clinch a win was thwarted as Ellington managed to pop in two shots midway through the second half. Despite the loss, Haley Butler made a resounding 8 saves on the day and led the back four with her leadership between the pipes. However, the highlight of the game came from Sidney Montana who managed to clear an opposing shot off the goal line, saving TE from going down another goal. With all said and done, TE move to a record of 3-3 on the season and look forward to face Illing at home today at 3:30.
- The TEMS Field Hockey Team faced off against JFK of Enfield yesterday. The Cougars won the first game with a score of 6-0. Scoring the first goal for the cougars was Sophie Finer with an assist from Kaylee Guerrera. The second goal was scored by Rachel Turrer with an assist by Abby Bergstrom. Rachel also scored the third goal of the game unassisted. Amanda Koziura , Emily Osit and Tori Jarvis worked together to score next with a double assisted goal. Gialla Bellody scored the fifth goal assisted by Rachel Turrer, adding to her impressive point total for the day. Gianna went on to assist the last goal of the game scored by Alexa Parada. Ria Saxena was credited with the shutout with the defense doing a great job keeping the ball on the Patriot's side of the field. The second game was also won by the Cougars with a score of 4-1. Alexis Dabrowski scored twice, Alexa Parada chipped in a goal and an assist and Sarah Stoddard scored the final goal. Karen Luo, Meredith Pinto, Brenda Do and Avery Pelczar also played great for the Cougars. The teams next home game is today, after school against Avery Middle School of Sommers. Come out and support the team!!
- The TEMS Field Hockey team is selling beads in the main lobby before school this week and next to help raise funds for the CT Make a Wish foundation. Go down on your way to homeroom and grab some. They are a great way to make your friends smile, or just show off your spirit.

- Good morning TE. There's great news to share today. As of last night, we have raised over $10,000 for the Walk-a-Thon!!! Thank you to everyone that has registered and has been working hard to get donations for our school! We still need your help. We are still over $9,000 away from meeting our goal and just one week away from our Walk-a-Thon. If you haven't already, register at getmovincrew.com and start raising money for our school. Also, don't forget, we have another exciting raffle coming up tomorrow. - Our Walk-a-Thon and Spirit Week is taking place next week. Dress up each day to show your school spirit and come together as a school to raise money for our school. It's going to be a fun week! We look forward to seeing all the spirit wear. Here is the run down of what to wear:

It is an after school club that creates opportunities for peer interaction between children with exceptionalities and their peers in a friendly, social, environment. - Attention all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders: The Outdoor Education Club will be having three adventures this October. First is a bike trip around Block Island on Saturday, October 13th. Then, on October 17th we will take a hike at Case Mountain in Manchester, and the last trip is to Foster Farm for the corn maze and hayride on October 24th. Please see Mr. Wilkinson in room 112 or Ms. Nelson in room 251 or stop by the main office if you’re interested in any of these trips. All are welcome!
- The TE Boys Soccer team competed twice in the past 4 days. Though during both contests, the Cougars showed tremendous grit, finishing with a 1 and 1 record in the two matches. On Friday, TE battled Sage Park. Joey Bemis got the shutout as the Cougars won 4-0. Aadi Dey scored two while Jake Gattuso and Jack Stricker finished out the scoring. Dylan Huttton, Kyle Castro, Erik Montes de Oca, Vaughan Bizier and Anthony That were all strong in defense. Last night the Cougars battled league leaders Ellington. The Cougars fought hard but were upended 4 to 2. Again, Gattuso and Dey found the net, the later on a penalty late in the match. Up next the Cougars travel to Illing for a night game at 6:30 on Thursday.

- With just over a week until the school wide Walk-A-Thon, we are almost half way to reaching our goal and we need your help getting to the finish line! Our individual student goal is $50 or more. - Walk-A-Thon news . . . Congratulations to Lime for being the team to have raised the most so far! Garnet is in the lead for 7th grade and Pacific is leading the 8th graders. The overall team winner gets a pizza party! Make sure to register at getmovincrew.com. So far only 17% of TE students are registered and they've already raised over $8,000. Just imagine how much money we could raise for our school if everyone participated! Our goal is for each student to raise at least $50. - The lady Cougars kicked off against Sage Park yesterday afternoon in what proved to be a one sided match. The Cougars flew out of the gate with outstanding hustle from midfielders Emily Ledger, Catherine Downes, and Ritika Abburi. The first goal came from Katelyn Roux off an assist from Abby Peruccio. The goal was followed up by a penalty kick taken by the skipper Megan Martin who calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net bringing the score to 2-0. Defensively, the Cougars were solid at the back as Hailey Testa, Sidney Montana, and Chion Pollard helped secure the victory. Outstanding play came from left back Leighana Ferrabelo and center midfielder Iniya Raja who provided countless defensive stops for the Cougars. Katelyn Roux tallied two goals on the day along with another added by 6th grader Elise Suffish. Captains Sarah Gordon and Lexi Lilly also found the back of the net with assists coming from Emerson Iacovelli and Chion Pollard. Haley Butler kept composure and secured yet another clean sheet on the season bringing her total to three. For the next game, the Cougars match up against rivals Ellington on Wednesday. Come out and support the team!

- The TE Field Hockey Team had their first home games of the season yesterday against Suffield. The first game was won by the Cougars with a score of 4-1. Scoring a hat trick was Kaylee Guerrera, two of her three goals assisted by Rachel Turrer. Rachel scored the fourth goal unassisted to secure the victory. Molly Frank, Sophie Finer, Grace Rich and Avery Yele did a great job keeping the ball on Suffield's side of the field. TE went on to win the second game with a score of 4-0. Amanda Kozieura scored the first goal of the game with an assist by Alexis Dabrowski. Alexa Parada scored the second goal shortly after. Sarah Stoddard and Emily Osit scored the third and fourth goals of the game. Ria Saxena had many great saves in both games and locked down a shutout in the second game. The Field Hockey Teams next Home game is Thursday against Avery Middle School of Somers.
