- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Thursday, May 4.
- Student council hopes you enjoyed your half day yesterday. Please send any feedback you have to your homeroom representative. For the 6th grade- Are you smarter than a 5th grader, the answer to the last question,” What movie won the first ever Oscar for best animated picture?” The answer was Shrek. The winning homerooms were Ruiz, Sullivan, McAvoy, and Pantages. Student council will deliver your reward next week!
- On Monday, May 2nd, the TEMS Gold Team traveled to the Appellate Court House in Harford to participate in the Civics First Middle School Mock Trial State Championship. Unfortunately, the Defense team from Moran Middle School prevailed over the Prosecution team from TE. Special shout out to the entire GOLD Team who made history as the first MOCK TRIAL team from TE to qualify for the State Championships. Members of the GOLD TEAM include: Jane Carty, Maham Husain, Anvitha Jayavarapu, Dhanya Sanakkayala, Shruti Shah, Akhil Shunmugaraja and Karthik Srikumar. In addition, Shruti Shah was named Outstanding Witness for the tournament! On Tuesday, May 3rd, eight members of the TEMS's DEBATE team went to Connecticut's OLD STATE HOUSE to compete in the Semifinals and Finals of the Civics First GREAT DEBATE. In an exciting FINAL DEBATE pitting two TEMS teams against one another, the team of Das and Srivastava prevailed in an unanimous decision over the team of Srikumar and Shunmugaraja. Kudos to the 2023 State Runner Ups: Karthik Srikumar and Akhil Shunmugaraja and congratulations to the 2023 Middle School Great Debate Champions: Anoushka "THE ANNIHILATOR" Das and Pooravi "THE PUNISHER" Srivastava.
- Have you had a chance to look through this year's issue of Out of the Blue yet? Make sure you look at Maribeth Casionan's amazing, colorful artwork or Owen Sampson's creative poetry!
- The TEMS baseball team traveled to Manchester to take on Illing yesterday afternoon and they suffered another close defeat. Final score was Illing 4, TE 2. Tom Melia came on in relief and held the Rams offense in check by pitching a solid three and a third innings. Offensively, the Cougars were led by Melia and Wyatt Prather who had two singles each. Ben Tetreault and Nico Calderon had the other hits for TE. The Cougars take on Sage Park today at home.
- Pride Month is quickly approaching and there’s lots to do to get ready for the TEMS Pride celebration! Even if you’ve never been to SAGA before, there’s plenty of opportunity for you to get involved! Come to SAGA after school today to help us work on the annual Pride Art Contest, trivia, news and media, and crafts! If you can’t make it today, reach out to Miss Carver or Mrs. Reed to express your interest in helping plan our most colorful month of the year! SAGA meets right after school in room 145 until the late bus.
- The Timothy Edwards Athletics Department is hosting it's first ever Cricket Intramurals. There are limited spots available for this after school program, so it will be offered to students that sign-up first. A confirmation email will be sent to all students that have been accepted for Cricket Intramurals. Once you sign up, you will be able to participate every Monday until June 5th. If you have additional equipment, you are encouraged to bring it in on or before the first participation date. If you don't have equipment, don't worry there will be some to share. LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS May 5th. You must go to the TEMS Homepage to register. Any questions, please see Mr. Chandler in the main gym.

Whether you are a beginner or want to get faster this camp will help you in so many ways. This is a summer camp that will begin on July 24th and end on July 28th. You can pick up more information in the boys and girls locker room or see Mrs. Giaccone in the main gym.

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Tuesday, May 2.
- Congrats to the girl's track team at their tri-meet yesterday at the high school. The team went head to head against Sage Park and Tolland coming in a close 2nd place. The team, did outstanding in many events including the discus, long jump, high jump, and hurdles. Some shout outs from the night include 6th grader Elise Glunt taking 2nd place in the high jump, Natalie Czop breaking into the Top 10 for the 100-meter run, Kiran Thaker taking 2nd place in the 800, and Sadhana Ganesan taking first in both Long jump and hurdles. The girls have their next meet on Thursday against East Hartford at the SWHS.
- On Monday, the TE Boys Track Team competed in a tri-meet with Sage Park and Tolland at home. The TE boys got redemption this time, beating Sage Park by one point 52-51. Tolland earned 17 points. Jeff Zeng continued his strong start to the season, running a strong final leg with the 4x800 team of James Swett, Erik Edstrom, and Colton Flaherty to get 1st place. Jeff also placed first in the mile run and third in the 800. Mathias Baidoo was strong in long jump and high jump, but he got his day off to a great start with the 4x100 team of Jamar Nickson, Avaneesh Savkar, and Luis Lopez Casimir. They earned first place and broke into the TE Top Ten along with the 4x800 team. Avaneesh also set a PR in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 11.85 seconds. Joe Dulin set a PR in the 400 and earned 3rd place. There were many strong performances from the boys and it took a team effort to take down Sage Park and Tolland. The boys next meet is on Thursday against East Hartford at South Windsor High School. Go Cougars!
- Today is the day! The 2022-2023 issue of Out of the Blue has been released and it is spectacular! We hope you will check it out. Ms. Olsen wants to thank all the hard working members of Out of the Blue for all they did this year and all the fun we had. She also wants to thank all the talented students who submitted and staff members who encouraged their students to submit. - Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, April 28.
- Congratulations to all the students who participated in last night's orchestra concert! Your hard work and dedication paid off, as the performance was truly outstanding.
- A reminder to all club members of Out of Blue to please come to Ms. Olsen's room after school on Monday, May 1 for a club meeting! Please remember to bring what you signed up to bring. For all of our TE Family, Out of the Blue needs your support. We are asking all staff and students to please help us celebrate the release of this year's issue of Out of the Blue by wearing blue this coming Tuesday, May 2. That is also the day you will also be able to see this year's issue! We are so excited!
- The TEMS baseball team traveled to Enfield on Thursday and took on JFK for its first road game of the season. TE started off strong by scoring 2 runs in the first inning. JFK came back to tie the score and the game seesawed back and forth until JFK took a 6 to 4 lead after 5 innings of play. TE fought back, but came up short. Final score was JFK 6 TE 5. Nick Gombotz continued his hot hitting by banging out 3 singles and an RBI for the Cougars. TE’s next game is Tuesday against East Hartford.
- The softball team suffered another loss yesterday against JFK middle school with a score of 21 to 5. Lila Sheridan had a great game at shortstop and also hit her first homerun of the season and had 2 hits. Cassidy Cole, Riley Quigley, Daphne Specht, Kendall Woods, and Amanda Donovan all played a great game. TE travels to East Hartford Middle School on Tuesday, May 2nd. Good luck ladies!

- It was a terrific night for the TEMS Debate Club on Wednesday as teams entered the Civics First GREAT DEBATE Contest. At the end of the night four students from TEMS were honored with Speaker Awards including: Second Place Speaker Aashray Veerapaneni, Third Place Speaker Anoushka Das, Fourth Place Speaker Akhil Shunmugaraja and in Fifth Place Speaker Karthik Srikumar. In addition, ONLY four teams would qualify to advance to the Semifinals and all four teams that advanced were from Timothy Edwards Middle School. The teams include: Suhani Kapil and Prasheta Mohanty, Anoushka Das and Pooravi Srivastava, Akhil Shunmugaraja and Karthik Srikumar and Aashray Veerapaneni and Daniel Zhang. Congratulations to all four teams and good luck at the State Semifinals and Finals next Wednesday May 3rd at the Old State House in Hartford!! Way to go TEMS Debaters!!!!!!!!!!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Wednesday, April 26.
- Tomorrow ELA STAR assessment will take place tomorrow. Please remember to bring a charged Chromebook to school and an independent book. Get a good night's rest and have a healthy breakfast.
- Congrats to our TEMS girl's track team for winning their first meet of the season against Sage Park. All the athletes on both teams had great performances, but TE won the meet by 11 points! Standouts from TE include Natalie Czop and Morgan Bridgeforth breaking into the TE Top 10 record book with their 200-meter dash times. Kiran Thaker broke into the record book with her 1600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes and 52 seconds! Gianna DiSalvator, Rachel Matyschsyk, Greta Johnson, and Kylah Wood took 1st place in the 4 x 800-meter run, and Anvitha Bhavya, Hasnie Giritharan, and Lilah Bolduc took 1st-3rd place in both the shot and discus. Great job ladies- the next meet is on Monday @ SWHS.
- Yesterday, the boys track and field team traveled to Sage Park for their first team meet of the season and lost a thriller of a meet by ONE POINT! 52-53. Some standout performances included Mathias Baidoo setting a personal record in the high jump clearing 5 feet and Brendan Soucy clearing 4 feet 10 inches for his personal best. Jamar Nickson, Mathias, and Avaneesh Savkar swept the long jump with Jamar jumping 16 feet, 4 inches. Ryan Faux finished first in his first ever 400 race. Jeff Zeng and Colton Flaherty finished 1st and 2nd in the mile run. And James Sweet took first in the 800. Luca Corticelli and Luis Lopez Casimir took 2nd and 3rd in the hurdles. Aiden Alder and Aniron Pal helped the boys sweep the discus. The boys performed very well and get a chance at redemption on Monday when Sage Park comes to town. The meet will be at South Windsor High School, come out and show your support! Go Cougars!!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Tuesday, April 25.
- It was another Historic Day for the TEMS Mock Trial teams as they entered into Playoff Competition at the Hartford Superior Court on Tuesday. All four TEMS teams proved to be worthy opponents in the courtroom. Kudos to the Red, White and Blue teams who all represented TEMS in an outstanding fashion, demonstrating superior skills in two rounds of trials! Congratulations to the TEMS Gold Team who advanced to the State Championship Finals. The Gold Team heads to the the Connecticut Appellate Courthouse in Hartford next Tuesday, May 2nd to compete in the finals. GOOD LUCK!
- The softball team lost yesterday against Ellington Middle School with a score of 7 to 1. Pitcher Josie Tomkunas pitched another great game striking out 7 batters. First baseman Cassidy Cole had a shot up the middle to get on base in the top of the 5th. Catcher Riley Quigley hit a double to drive Cassidy in making it 3 to one. Unfortunately, Ellington scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to end the game. Great job ladies! TE plays JFK Middle School on Thursday here at TE. Good luck!
- The Timothy Edwards baseball team suffered it's first loss of the season Monday afternoon vs. Ellington. After surrendering three runs to the Wildcats in the first inning, the Cougars came back to take a 4 to 3 lead in the bottom of the first. After that, the bats were silent. Ellington then scored a run in the 5th and a run in the 6th to take the lead for good. The final score was 5 to 4. Carson Solazzo, Spencer Anderson and Wyatt Prather had the only hits for TE. The Cougars will next play at JFK on Thursday.

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Monday, April 24.
- On Saturday, 36 students competed in the TEMS Robotics Competition Penta-Power. The teams all performed well and fun was had by all participants. The industrial design award was given to Team 000-111, and the Most Creative Design award went to the Biryani Bots. Our overall grand champion was the Javaholics. Congratulations too all involved, and especially the Javaholics team of Joe, Avy, Saitvik, Rahul, Jacob,Ishan and Avistmit.
- Attention Student Council Members… There will be a student council meeting tomorrow at 7:05 in room 244!
- Out of the Blue will meet after school today, Monday April 24. It is imperative all club members attend as we are making decisions to finalize our magazine.
- On Saturday, the Timothy Edwards Middle School Jazz Ensemble traveled to Philadelphia, PA to compete in the National Jazz Festival. 65 schools and 95 different performing groups participated from 19 different states across the US and Puerto Rico. We are extremely proud to announce that for the first time ever, the Timothy Edwards Middle School Jazz Ensemble took home FIRST PLACE in the Large Ensemble Category with a near perfect score beating out strong rivals from across the country. Drummer Alvin Quansah took home the award for being the TEMS band's MVP musician. Additionally, alto saxophonist Sanjay Rajan and drummer Alvin Quansah both took home the awards for Outstanding Best Overall Musicians in the middle school category. Congratulations to all of the musicians on this incredible accomplishment.

- Congratulations to the softball team for their win on opening day! TE took home an 18 to 9 win over Suffield Middle School yesterday. Amanda Donovan, Kendall Woods and Josie Tomkunas added several hits each time up at bat. A huge shoutout goes out to catcher Daphne Specht and pitcher Josie Tomkunas. Great job ladies! TE travels to Ellington middle school on Monday.
- Attention all band students: Mr. Marci's instrumental lessons are cancelled for today. Please remain in your normal encore classes.
- Today is Purple Up day. Thank you to all of the staff and students who wore there purple in support of Millitary Children and Families. It means a lot to those who serve, and the families they leave behind to protect our country. Purple Up Day is an important symbol of supporting, uplifting, and being there for military kids since their built-in support system isn’t always available to them.
- Attention all 8th graders, Tonight is the Neon Dance. Come on out in your brightest outfits and dance the night away with your friends. Tickets are on sale today in common area C. Students attending must complete the Google Form which can be found on the homepage. Funds from this dance will go to support the Boston Trip for 8th graders. Google Form Link

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Thursday, April 20.
- The Timothy Edwards baseball team starting off on the right path in defense of its 2022 CRAL Championship by defeating Tolland, 8 to 1. Leading the way offensively for the Cougars was Nick Gombotz with 2 hits, including a triple and 3 RBI. Ben Tetreault chipped in with 2 singles and Bennett Durbois added a double for the home team. On the pitcher's mound, Tetreault struck out 7 Falcon batters and allowed no hits in picking up the victory. Durbois and Braydon Falco finished up on the mound to assist in the win. TE's next game is at home Monday vs. Ellington.
- Have you ever heard about Purple Up Day? The whole month of April is celebrated as the Month of the Military Child and it's a great opportunity to honor and appreciate military families and their children for the sacrifices they make and the challenges they overcome. Since military parents are often away from home, Purple Up Day became an important symbol of supporting, uplifting, and being there for military kids since their built-in support system isn’t always available to them. Help us support them by wearing your PURPLE tomorrow April 21st.
