TE Morning News - 5/14/18
  • Lyndsay Donston's walk-off hit propelled the TE softball team to a dramatic 14-13 victory over East Hartford Middle School last Friday.  Grace Benashski and Aricka Boosa pitched the Cougars towards victory.  Alexa Kimball, Lindsey Carter and Olivia Petgrave played well defensively.  The Cougars now have three wins and two losses, and play tomorrow at home versus Ellington at 3:30 pm.

  • The Athletics Department will be offering Tennis Intramurals after school, starting May 16.  The program will run for 2 weeks, and will focus on match play.  If you are interested, please pick up a registration form in the gym locker rooms.  Registration is limited to 20 students.  Any questions, see Mrs. Hall.

  • The literary magazine Out of the Blue will meet immediately after school today in room 312 in the Garnet hallway.  We have many things to do so all members should try to attend.

  • Hello all students and staff at TE! This month is the Timothy Edwards 50th Anniversary Celebration. Does 50 years sound like a long time to you? Can you name some things that happened 50 years ago?

1968 remains arguably the most historic year in modern American history: the first 747 "Jumbo Jet" airplane was introduced, revered leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated, and we traveled into space.

NASA’s Apollo 8 mission had many firsts. For the first time in history humans orbited the Moon. It set a new rocket speed record of more than 24 thousand miles per hour. It was the first time the lunar surface was broadcast on live television, and it was the first time humans had traveled to the far side of the moon.

Back here on Earth, Timothy Edwards opened for the first time as the new school in South Windsor. We will be celebrating this with some special activities and events this month, ending with the Timothy Edwards 50th Anniversary Celebration on May 31st. There will be more details to follow, but all current and former students and staff are invited for the May 31st evening celebration. Also, we will be having some remembrances in a “Would you Believe?” section from current and past teachers and students that we will share with you here on the TE TV Morning News.

  • If you want to work on your fitness while enjoying some nice weather, sign up for the Spring Running Club.  Running club will meet after school on Thursdays.  If you’re interested, stop by the main office or Ms. Nelson’s room in 251 for a form.  Forms are due back by Wednesday, May 16th.
  • The TE Baseball Team improved to 3 and 2 on the season with a victory over East Hartford.  Jack Albert picked up the win on the mound, striking out 7 in six innings of work.  Mike Foran had 2 hits, including a double and RBI, while Jack Whitlock singled and doubled for the Cougars. TE plays at Ellington on Tuesday.
  • And Now Here is our meteorologist Jordan with the weather! As we start off the week today’s temperatures will be in the mid seventies with partly sunny skies, a pretty quiet day. The rest of the week doesn’t look to be as quiet with temperatures ranging in the mid to upper seventies with low temperatures in the mid to upper fifties. We are expecting some rain showers during the middle and end of the week but other than that it is looking mostly sunny. We have also issued a storm warning for the whole state on Tuesday due to the strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging winds expected during the mid afternoon and evening hours. Jordan Cosman, TETV morning news, guys, back to you.
