  • Yesterday marked the start of the TE baseball season, and what an opening day it was! Despite the biting 40mph wind gusts and a chilling 28-degree feel-like temperature, the Cougars battled hard for a 3-2 victory over Tolland. The pitching was absolutely dominant. Torin Edwards started strong, striking out the side in both the first and second innings, racking up an impressive 6 strikeouts. Then, Brody Kelly came in to relieve Edwards in the third, and he was phenomenal. In five innings of work, Kelly struck out 10 Tolland batters, securing the win for the Cougars. While he did walk a few, he didn't allow a single hit!  Aiden Silvestro was solid defensively behind the plate. Offensively, Lucas Pauwee was the star of the show. After Ryan Browning's walk and stolen base in the 5th inning, Pauwee stepped up to the plate and launched a massive home run to left field.  In the 6th inning, Pauwee was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring a run.  He finished the game with a home run and three RBI. Bryce Childree also contributed with a solid single.  It was a cold day for baseball, but TE's determination paid off with a hard fought victory.  The next game is this Thursday at Sage Park. Let's go Cougars!
