  • The boys track team sent a select group of athletes to compete at the 14th Annual State Track and Field Championship on Saturday.  The rain held off long enough for all the boys to compete in their events, and they did not disappoint.  Beckham Mills performed well under pressure, earning 3rd place in the discus, just before running the 400 and placing 2nd in the state.  He set a personal record in both.  The distance runners of Stewart Christophel, Jeff Zeng, and Colton Flaherty set PRs in the 1600.  Holden Crane made it to the finals of Shot Put where he finished 8th.  Trestan Calloway walked away with two medals of his own, placing 7th in the 100 and 3rd in the 200.  Matt Habeeb and Jerry Zhu ran their best hurdle races of the year and nearly made the finals.  Andrew Glatt and Avaneesh Savkar had strong showings for TE on the day.  Ultimately, the TE boys finished the day with an astonishing 3rd place overall team score out of 27 schools in the state.  It was a very impressive day for the boys who saved some of their best performances for last. The coaches would like to thank all the athletes for a tremendous season and wish good luck to all the 8th graders as they begin the next chapter of their track and field careers.
  • Congrats to all the girl track athletes that competed at the 14th Annual State Track Championship Meet on Saturday.  The girls had strong performances the entire day.  Sadhana Ganesan and Peyton Bennett started the day for the Lady Cougars placing 1st and 2nd in the hurdle prelims with Bennett taking fourth place overall in the hurdle finals.  Morgan Bridgeforth took 9th place out of 62 athletes in the 100-meter run.  Keeley Scott, Morgan Bridgeforth, and Natalie Czop were in the top 1/3rd of the athletes out of the 70 other girls that ran the 200.  Mia Ruiz took 3rd place in the 400, with Izzy Carpenter and Annabel Ambooken not far behind- each setting personal records for the day.  Izzy Carpenter was 11th in the state in the 800-meter run, along with Abigail Ambooken in the top half of athletes.  Olivia Stoner and Meghan Foster set personal records in the 1600-meter run.  Zoe Bailey took 23rd overall, but 1st for her grade in the shot put, while Ioana Luangpraseuth took 5th for the discus, with Abby Stricker and Audrey Zhang close behind. Ella Daniele and Maddie Osorio took 3rd and 5th for their grade level in the long jump.  The day ended with Mallory Mead and Caroline Cavanaugh at the high jump.  Mallory jumped an impressive 4'2" and Caroline won 1st place in the state with a jump of 4'6"  Overall an impressive day with many personal records in throwing, jumping, and running events.  The coaches are beyond proud.  Great job ladies.
