  • The TE softball team hosted Illing Middle School on Monday. In the first inning, Meghan Doherty controlled the mound and kept Illing scoreless with help from the infield.  And in the bottom of the first, the Cougars went right to work scoring six runs from their offensive power and heads-up base running. Brianna LeGare, Meghan Doherty, and Cassidy Cole all scored two runs each in the game; while, the birthday girl, Olivia Doran, added three runs of her own. In the fifth inning, Illing tried to start a rally; but, LeGare gunned down a baserunner to Taylor Kehoe at third base, which gave TE the final out of the game and the win. The final score was TE 11 - Illing 5. The Cougars are 4 -3 on the season and play their final game at Ellington Middle School today. And a special thank you to our fill-in first base coach, Mr. Clifton!

  • Monday was the FINAL regular season track meet for the Boys Track Team and they faced some of their toughest competition in Ellington.  Much of the meet was a battle, with TE coming out on top in most of the events thanks to their hard work all season.  The boys defeated Ellington 69-36.  And what a way to finish the regular season.  Kyden Merlin broke into the TE Top Ten in ALL 4 of his events.  He ran an astounding 11.51 in the 100 meter sprint.  He also joined the 4x100 team of Sonit Shah, Holden Crane, and Trestan Calloway, running a scorching 51.48 seconds to win the race. Trestan Calloway also set a personal record of 9.36 seconds in the hurdles.  Shawn Baidoo and Naol Tirfessa helped sweep the hurdles, both running under 11 seconds.  Will Campbell, Ethan Hunt, Jacob Pflederer and Holden Crane continued their strong throwing by sweeping the shot put and discus events. The 4x800 team of Blake Wool, Colton Flaherty, Stewart Christophel, and Nivaen Giritharan had their best race of the season, easily winning over Ellington's squad.  Again, many of the boys stepped up to finish the season with some of their strongest efforts, setting personal records throughout the meet. Thank you to the boys for an amazing first season back after the pandemic!  Now the boys who qualified will train for States on Saturday.  Good luck to all the athletes!  Go Cougars!

  • The TE baseball team travelled to Manchester and faced off against unbeaten and 1st place Illing on Monday afternoon.  Once again, TE pitchers were dominant as they defeated the Rams by a score of 5 to 1.  Brayden Edwards picked up the win and is 4 and 0 on the season.  In 13 innings pitched this year he has given up only 3 hits and one earned run while striking out 27.  Robbie Wunsch came in and closed the door on any thoughts about an Illing rally.  Edwards and Wunsch combined to strike out 14 while only giving up 2 hits.  In their 7 games so far, the Cougars pitching staff has an astounding team ERA of 1.40.  Offensively, the balanced hitting attack was led by Jacob Gombotz who had 3 singles and 2 RBI.  Ethan Burke added 2 singles and an RBI while Jake Polombizio added a single and RBI in the victory.   Ben Albert, Wunsch, Drew Dargati and Sammy Balducci continued to stay hot at the plate.  The Cougars have 6 wins and one loss on the season.  They finish out the regular season at home today vs. Ellington at Duprey Field.

  • Congrats to the Lady Cougars on their win against Ellington yesterday!  The girls defeated Ellington Middle School 92-18!  Although Ellington had a few standouts, TE denominated most events.  In the 100 and 200 meter runs, Susan Otaluka, Natalie Czop, and Mia Ruiz took the top three places, and Susan Otaluka now holds the 1st place spot as the TE All Time Record holder for her 100-meter time!   Mia Ruiz and Izzy Carpenter took 1st and 2nd place in the 400-meter run, while Sam Roux and Racher Turer earned 2nd and 3rd place in the 800-meter run.  Isabella Carpenter ran a season-best 1600 meter run and now holds 8th place in our TE record book running a 5:52 mile!  In the hurdles, Kashish Kodnaney, Sadhana Ganesan, and Peyton Bennett took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.  In the Long Jump, Kyra Soucy took first place jumping 13'6.5", while Avery Brochu took 2nd place with her first time in the event ever!  The TE girls swept the high jump.  Caroline Cavanaugh, and Makayla McGrath, jumped 4'4" and Susan Otaluka jumped 4'6"!   In the throwing events, Rachel Turer, Ioana Langpraseuth, and Julia Jaworski took 1st-3rd places in the discus and Rachel Turer and Ioana Langpraseuth took 1st and 3rd place in the shot put.   Congrats girls accomplishing an undefeated season!
