TETV Morning News - Monday, March 29, 2021

  • This week is a Purple week. It is a Day 3 for for Grade 6 and a Day 1 Grades 7 & 8.
  • Spring sports are back! Track and Field is where it's at!  You can compete in sprinting, long-distance running, hurdles, throwing, and jumping events.  Tryouts for GIRLS will be held on Monday, April 5th and Wednesday, April 7th. Tryouts for BOYS will be held on Tuesday, April 6th and Thursday, April 8th.  All tryouts will run from 2:40-4:30 after school.  Late buses will be available every day EXCEPT Tuesday. Please make plans to come for BOTH scheduled tryout days.  All physicals must be up to date and permission forms completed by Friday, April 2nd.  You can fill out forms online on the TE Athletics page through the parent portal.  Please also get your spring sports payment into the main office before tryouts.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Millard or Mrs. Edwards or stop by Room 332 or 258 to see the coach.  See you at tryouts!!!
  • Congratulations to the TEMS Mock Trial Teams who participated in the four rounds of intense competition in the 2021 Civics First Middle School Mock Trial Tournament. Shout outs to the following students who were acknowledged by the Judges for their outstanding performances as witnesses: Bhaavni Krishna ,Hasi Ponnathota, Saanvi Rao, Jason Thokchom, Rachel Turer. In addition, the following students were recognized for their excellent presentations as Attorneys.Meera Kannan, Roger Mao, Hasi Ponnathota and Smriti Rajan. It should be noted that Hasi Ponnathota [who is always excited to be in the spotlight] was the only student in this tournament who was honored in both categories! In a record setting year, all 4 TEMS teams compiled identical final records of 3 wins against 1 loss earning the TEMS Gold and TEMS Red teams Honorable Mention Honors while the TEMS Blue and TEMS White teams finished in a tie for 3rd Place. Special thanks to the Grade 8 Teachers and all ENCORE staff for their patience and flexibility to allow these students to EXCEL in Competition. Finally, the Mock Trial teams would like to extend thanks to our amazing timekeepers: Linnea Bennett, Mihika Joshi and Simran Basu for their assistance and support! Well done - TEMS Red, White, Blue and Gold teams!
  • All 8th Grade Orchestra students: You can use the Spring Matinee to sign up for our weekly after school rehearsals which will begin next Wednesday, April 7th at 3pm in the Auditorium. Distance Learners are invited to join in person or virtually. Check the 8th Grade Orchestra Classroom for announcements and rehearsal details.   • Womens’ History Month Spotlight: Sally Ride was the 3d female in space overall but she was the first American female in space. Sally Ride was a female astronaut and physicist born on May 26 1951. She got a job at NASA in 1978. In 1983 she was launched into space as the youngest American astronaut ever to go to space. She did so at the age of 32! She was in space for about 14 days. When she got back to Earth she worked at NASA for about 8 more years and then retired in 1987.
