  • The TE Cougars continued their winning ways last night defeating Ellington 2-0 at Cougar Stadium.  The game started with a bang as Alex Ndiaye was fouled in the penalty area.  He calmly stepped up to the spot and buried the ensuing penalty kick, making the score 1-0.  The first half was completely dominated by the Cougars as Ben Perkins, Blake Lyons and Jack Cinxo controlled the midfield.  In the back, Aidan Matus and David Nise played smartly as they alternated at right defender, while Mason Smith filled in nicely on the left side of the defense.  The second half was a little more even in terms of chances.  Fan Linares made two nice saves to keep the score line at 1-0.  It wasn't until the 62 minute, when Lyons drove the end line and crossed the ball into Chirag Balaji who buried his chance at the back post.  The final score of 2-0 was justified.  Up next the Cougars travel to Illing today after school.
  • The TE girls soccer team defeated Ellington 2-0 in a physical match yesterday afternoon. The TE girls totaled an astounding 20 shots on goal and dominated play in the midfield with incredible athleticism from Gianna DiSalvatore and Annabel Ambooken. The first goal came off the hard work of Alina Zajac who won a tackle off an Ellington goal kick and scored from outside the box. In the second half, Alina Zajac was involved again, with a through ball onto Kylah Wood, who calmly found the corner of the goal. While the goals resulted in the victory Allison Marques, Nora Carty, and Jenna Martin remained consistent with superb effort and energy to keep the clean sheet. However, player of the game goes to Shea Brochu for making countless tackles and breaking up the Ellington attack. Brochu's confidence to win the ball in the defending end was surely vital for the Cougar's victory. Lastly, Olivia Lopez and Hannah Kowalchik recorded a total of 6 saves on the day. The team looks forward to hosting their next home game this afternoon vs. Illing.
