  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Thursday,  September 29th.
  • The TEMS girls soccer team took home a 3-0 win versus Ellington in their home-opener yesterday afternoon. The game began with a slow start, with both teams getting a few chances on goal in the first half. It wasn't until the second half when the Cougars hit their stride. Gianna DiSalvatore and Shea Brochu dominated and controlled the center of the field with support from Teagan Purcell and Maddie Edwards. In defense, Nora Carty, Allison Marques, Jenna Martin, and Pratheeka Dyava remained composed when handling the Ellington threats. Breaking the deadlock, was Abigail Ambooken who volleyed in a cross from Kylah Wood, which really opened up play for the Cougars. Shortly after, Ambooken returned the favor by swinging in another cross as Wood slotted the ball through the goalie's legs and into the back of the net. Rounding out the score sheet, Teagan Purcell tapped in a cross coming from a corner kick from Kylah Wood who ended the day with one goal and two assists. Outstanding performance was had from Annabel Ambooken who demonstrated heart and hustle which really pushed the team forward. Lastly, goalkeepers Hannah Kowalchik and Olivia Lopez left a crisp clean sheet on the day. The Cougars kick off again this afternoon @ JFK.
  • The Timothy Edwards boys soccer team competed last night against the Wildcats of Ellington. It was a hard five game throughout the contest and the score line of 0-0 at half time was justified. In the second half, the Cougars came out ready to fight. They battled for every loose ball and won many challenges in the air. The Wildcats put their best player up top and he was thwarted continuously by Sam Velasquez, Aaron Cherion, and Dalton Crane. Midway through the half, the Cougars gained some momentum and the ensuing corner, Blake Lyons found the back of the net with a blast from 20 yards out. Jack Cinxo was credited with the assist. Both teams kept pressing and though Cougars got the last laugh. Brody Jurczyk secured the 3 points with a shot placed perfectly over the keeper into the back of the net. Final score of 2-0 was spot on. The Cougars next play JFK today after school. Hope to see you at the match.
