  • Good morning everyone, please stand for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Please be seated.
  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, September 29.
  • Attention all field hockey team members: today's practice is canceled due to the weather. Please go on your regular transportation home. Again there will be no field hockey practice today.
  • And now for Girls Soccer news. Ellington put up a strong fight against the Cougars last night. Early in the first half Aleksa Zajac passed a through ball to Kinsley Wood who fired one in the back of the net. That half ended with the lady Cougars up 1 and Ellington 0. Tensions were high in the second half, the Cougars had multiple shots on net, but were unfortunately unable to finish. The game ended 1-0. The lady Cougars continue to be undefeated. We have our next game on Tuesday against Sage Park.
  • The TE Cougars Boys Soccer team played a favorable host last night as the Ellington Wildcats came to town for a top of the table contest.  "The first half was a thing of beauty," Coach Chandler said.  We were firing on all cylinders," he added.  It was just as coach said.  Ellington entered the Cougars penalty area only once in the first half and TE had the lions share of possession for most of the frame.  Aaron Cheriha was flying down the touch-line time and time again.  The midfield play of Matteo Heredia, Zayd Sebro, Carson Henriques along with AJ and RJ was something to be seen.  The Cougars were disappointed not to be up at the break, however.  The second half was not as pleasant as the first...though TE still had more of the ball.  The Wildcats stuck first to take a 1-0 lead.  About 15 minutes later, the Cougars responded as Dalton Crane floated a ball into the penalty area where Doug Quiuqui was lurking.  He buried his chance as the score was now tied 1-1.  Neither team really had another chance to change the result, and the final score of 1-1 was justified, though disappointing for the Cougars. The Cougars next game is Tuesday when we play Sage Park here after school.

  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Wednesday, September 27.
  • The Timothy Edwards boys soccer team traveled to JFK last night up in Enfield, and came away with a 4–0 victory. Leading the scoring was Doug Quiuqui who took a nice threw ball from Carson Henriques. The half finished 1–0, though TE was on the front foot most of the half. The second half was more of the same in terms of possession and attack, when Dalton Crane scored a free kick from about 23 yards out. After constant pressure, Garren Kerachsky received a pass from Zayd Sebro and hammered home his chance over the keeper's head. Doug Q. was on the end of the final goal after he received a pass/shot attempt from Aaron Cheriah. The final score of 4-0 was justified from the start. The next game for the Cougars is on Thursday against Ellington after school.
  • The girls team played JFK last night and won 5-1. The ball was buzzing around the field. Enfield definitely put the pressure on the Cougars, but that did not stop us. The Cougars scored 3 amazing goals in the first half. We ended the half 3-0.  Aleksa Zajac and Madison Carpenter each placed one in the back net in the second half. 6th grader Isla Mayer had an outstanding second half. If it wasn't for our goal keeper Victoria Macchi we wouldn't have been able to hold JFK to only one goal. The girls team faces Ellington on Thursday!
  • Attention orchestra students, there will be no orchestra lessons today while Mr. Rescsanski is out. Again, orchestra lessons are canceled for today.
  • Attention all students of grades 6, 7, and 8: Yearbook Club will be having our first meeting of the school year on Thursday, October 5th afterschool in room 123. • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, September 22.
  • If there is anyone still interested in entering the TEMS PTO spirit wear contest submissions are due Tuesday, September 26. Again, final day to submit to the PTO spirit wear design contest is next Tuesday the 26th.
  • The girls soccer team won 5-3 against Suffield last night. Suffield scored early on in the first half and the Cougars were fired up. Kinsley Wood came back strong and fired one in the back of the net making the score 1-1. At the end of the first half the score was 3-2. The Cougars came back strong in the second half with two goals. Allison Marques and Sienna DiSalvatore scored the next two goals. Emily Gamble was a key component of the Cougar offense. Her hard work and outstanding goal was extremely noticed on the field last night. The Cougars face Enfield on Tuesday at home. Come out and support the team.
  • Last night the boys soccer team took on Suffield in a heated CRAL battle.  The tempo of the game was high, and the ball was buzzin' around.  It was generally back and forth until Logan Jackson drove the end line and cross the ball into the box.  After the keeper bobbled it, Zayd Sebro was there to pounce and quickly made it 1-0.  A shortened 1st half, due to a bus breakdown, the Cougars were up 1-0 at the break.  Physical play ensued in the second with TE pressing the Wildcats into their own half.  They had very few chances and Aniron Pal had little to do much of the match.  Our break in the second frame came about 10 minutes into the half when a handball was called against Suffield.  6th grader Logan Jackson was brave and stepped up to take the penalty, buried it and made the score 2-0.  Aaron Cherian increased the lead just minutes later off a nice feed from Haris Zhinipotoku.  Cherian took his time as calmly finished to the back post.  Garren Kerachsky, yet another 6th grader, finished the scoring by tapping in a cross/hot from Haris.  It was a 'Right place and right time' finish! The Cougars play away to JFK on Tuesday for their next game.
  • The Field Hockey team traveled to Suffield yesterday and won with a score of 8-0. Leading the scoring was Kinley Cincotta with 3 goals followed by Ainslee Deptula with 2. Tori Yelle, Emma Hennessy and Sarah Bonanno had one goal a piece. Ainslee led in assists with 4, followed by Tori with 2 and Lilah Boldic and Joanna Halle with 1. Not only are the coaches proud of the team, they are especially proud of our first year goalies Meg Aparo and Allie Scott for stepping up to play for both teams when the Suffield goalie was injured. Both Allie and Megan stopped some rocket shots from their own teammates so the game could continue. First year player Lilah Boldic did a nice job controlling the midfield along with Prithi Suriyankumar and Emily Carmon. Team captains Ainslee Deptula, Emily Carmon, Emma Davis, Molly Willard and Prithi Suriyankumar continue to amaze their coaches with their dedication and leadership. Great job ladies!!
  • Thanks to all those students and staff who decorated pinwheels to celebrate the International Day of Peace! The heartfelt messages of peace, kindness and love were beautiful and the artwork was fabulous as well. Thanks also to the dedicated students who got to school early yesterday to “plant” the pinwheels! We appreciate you!

  • The boys cross country team lost their first meet of the season on Wednesday with a final score of Suffield 25 - TE 34. TE's Alex Larmand finished second and Jeff Zeng finished first, despite the team's loss; Jeff Zeng had a very strong race, finishing in 14 minutes and 58 seconds, which was one minute before any of Suffield's runners.Other notable finishes were Graeme Taylor, Durvaank Patel, and Veer Rupani.   And, two sixth graders that had an impressive race were Elliot Wenzel and Evan Taylor. Good luck next Tuesday! Go Cougars!
  • TE girls lost to Suffield in a close meet 34-25. Top 5 runners for TE were Jana Brownbill in 2nd, Akithmi Koththigoda in 3rd, Greta Johnson in 6th, Ali Kupec in 11th and Mia DeLany in 12. Jana Brownbill led the team with a time of 17:42.

  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Wednesday, September 20.
  • Attention sixth grade studentsRegistration is open for the Grade 6 Stock Market Game! Classes will meet on Mondays after school starting Monday October 2nd and continue through the end of November. You can play as an individual or team up with friends and invest your 'mock' $100,000 in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Financial Guru and Grade 6 SAGE Team Math teacher Mrs. Pantages will co-teach the class...BUT, did you know that Mrs. Pantages actually introduced Ben Cohen to Jerry Greenfield during recess at their elementary school. She was a classmate of Yes, THE Ben and THE Jerry of the multi-billion dollar ice cream empire - Ben and Jerry's. (SIDE NOTE: She also convinced them to sell ice cream instead of their first idea - flavored mayonnaise! )

SECOND SIDE NOTE:  Mr. Smith-Horn, who's claim to fame is he went to high school with George from "Seinfeld"  is also co-teaching the class.  Interested sixth graders should join the  Stock Market Game Google Classroom using code:  6wevban and come to the first class on Monday, October 2nd in the TEMS Cafeteria.

  • The girls soccer team had their first win 5-0 against Illing middle school yesterday. Gianna DiSalvatore had two beautiful goals for the team. Shea Brochu and Allison Marques led the team on defense. Victoria Macchi had an outstanding game in goal. The girl's next game will be Thursday against Suffield.

  •  Last night the Boys Soccer team opened its season account with a firm 3-1 win over their rivals, the Illing Rams. The first half was mostly one sided as 6th grader Sammy Forko scored his first TE goal of a nice feed from Haris Zhinipotoku. The Cougars then took their foot off the gas for a minute or two and Illing Drew one back with a nice finish to the back post. The second half Illing was only able to get one chance though Aniron Pal was up to the task and caught it with little worry. With TE pressing, Doug Quiuqui found the ball at his feet in the box and buried it unassisted. Dalton crane rounded out the scoring after Dliion Leacu crossed it from the right flank. Quiuqui was smart as week as he dummies the ball through his legs so Crane could finish it sweetly. The Cougars next play on Thursday at home versus JFK.

  •  Do you have ideas about how to improve TE? Do you want to improve your leadership skills? If you answered yes to those questions, you should run in the elections for student council. BUT, did you know that Mrs. Pantages is responsible for the name Apple as in Apple Computers. Years ago, Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple wanted to name the company Orange [can you imagine] but in a chance encounter, Mrs. Pantages overheard Mr. Jobs talking about Orange computers and whether or not he should call the desktop computers I-Clementine or I- Navels. Ridiculous names right.  So thank Mrs. Pantages for the name I-Mac [yes, Macs or Macintosh is a variety of apples - not the computers, the fruit!] And, oh... Mr. Smith-Horn, who likes Honeycrisp apples, is also co-teaching the class. He also thinks Honeycrisp is a good name for a computer! Just sayin. • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, September 15.
  • TE will be participating in “Starts with Hello” activities next week. This program is part of Sandy Hook Promise and the goal is to help students feel connected to each other and school. An easy way to make people feel welcome and included is to simply say HELLO! All staff and students will wear name tags on Monday to encourage greeting people by name. We will also ask everyone to wear GREEN on Wednesday, 9/20. That is the color of Sandy Hook Promise and represents kindness and acceptance. TEMS will recognize the International Day of Peace on September 21st  by participating in the “Pinwheels for Peace” project. You will have the opportunity to create a pinwheel expressing your goals for “Whirled” peace! Students will have 2 opportunities to help out with these activities. You can volunteer to arrive at school by 7:30am on Thursday, 9/21 to help “plant’ the pinwheels in front of the school. You can also sign up to arrive at school by 7:30am on Friday, 9/22 to help create chalk art in front of the school to celebrate “It Starts With Hello” week. You can go to the Guidance Office or the Main Office to sign up for either of these programs. Thank you for volunteering!
