- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, January 31.
- The boys basketball team traveled to Vernon Middle School to take on the Eagles. A strong start with 20 points in the first quarter helped the Cougars get off to a fast start and beat Vernon Middle School 63-43. The boys held the Eagles to 3 points in the second and never looked back. 8 three pointers and some easy transition buckets helped build the big lead. The Cougars are 9-0 and are playing Illing on Friday at home and looking to secure the number 1 seed for the playoffs.
- It was another good night on the hardwood for the Lady Cougars and once again, they didn't disappoint. After a slow start to the contest, TE picked it up in the final three quarters taking the "W" with a 50-17 victory. In the second, the Lady Cougars were draining threes as Maddie Carpenter sank three and Olivia Dzubin made one as well. The 19 point second quarter allowed TE to establish their dominance and they didn't look back. Onto the second half, where Raegan Burnham, Aleks Gogic, Leighton Edwards, Mia Leroy and Eliana Beakal all had at least one bucket in the third quarter to extend the Lady Cougars lead. The fourth quarter was yet another good one for TE. Beakal scored four more buckets to establish her career high, as well as the game high with 10 points. The Lady Cougars travel to Illing today to take on the Rams to see who stays atop the conference standings. Good luck ladies.

- The girls hoops team was on the hardwood once again last night taking on the Lady Falcons of East Hartford. The Lady Cougars were challenged a bit more then any other game this year, but they came out on top 41-30. Led by Starbucks earning Emily Keegan, who set a career high with 13 points, the Lady Cougars jumped out to a 16-1 lead after one quarter. However, East Hartford clawed their way back into the game in the second with a fierce press that left the Cougars rattled. East Hartford closed the gap to 21-16 at the half. In the third quarter, TE pressed their way into a more sizable lead with Elise Glunt, Emmi Tushe and Olivia Dzubin all contributing to the scoring; Maddie Carpenter drained a three for her only bucket of the game too. A stout defense helped guide the Lady Cougars in the second half as they came away with the victory. The undefeated Lady Cougars play host to Vernon on Thursday. Come out and cheer on the girls.
- The TE boys basketball team have continued their winning ways. On Monday the Cougars took on Ellington Middle School and finished them off 45-21. They held Ellington to a single digit scoring all 4 quarters. On Tuesday, the Cougars traveled to East Hartford Middle School to take on the Falcons. The boys lead by 13 at half and after a quick run by east Hartford to cut the lead to 9, the Cougars pressure defense and 7 three pointers lead to a 61-36 victory. The boys put their 8-0 record on the line when they travel to Vernon Middle School on Thursday.

Elise Glunt lead all scorers with 12 points while Emily Keegan added eight in the win. Olivia Dsubin made two three for six points, while Emmi Tushe had four, Harper Kelley also had four, Maddie Carpernter added three, Emma Rutkauskas and Raegan Burnham both chipped in two a piece. Once again, after a sluggish first quarter, in which TE only lead by one after one, The Lady Cougars stepped up their defensive intensity and exploded with a 16-2 run and a third quarter lead of 33-12. TE slowed it down a little in the end allowing the Lady Falcons back in the game slightly, but still cruised to the victory quite easily. Up next, the Lady Cougars travel to Vernon and take on VCMS. Good luck ladies.
