- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Wednesday, January 31.
- The Lady Cougars lost a heartbreaker last night in the final second of their contest with Suffield. It was nip and tuck all night as the Lady Cougars fell to 6 and 4 on the season. The first half had lead change after lead change, and the half time score was just the same at the start...tied 18-18. Maria Puniello led TE with 11 points, Shea Brochu added 10 and Liv D'Zubin dropped in three 3-pointers for the brunt of the scoring. If you weren't able to tell how close the game was, TE and Suffield were also tied at the end of the third quarter as well. Emily Keegan rebounded well, and Allie Kupec played strong defense in the fourth quarter to help keep it close in the end. Unfortunately, the Lady Wildcats grabbed an offensive rebound and scored a put back to take the lead with 16 seconds to play. After a foul TE got a shot off in the end, but were not able to match the Lady Wildcats game winning shot. TE plays today after school against JFK of Enfield. Good luck ladies.

- Last night the Lady Cougars traveled to Sage Park in Windsor to take on the Lady Chargers. Going without one of their top players due to illness, TE found it hard to tame the Lady Chargers and fell 39-24. Madison Carpenter and Maria Puniello led TE with 9 points each. Unable to break the relentless half court pressure, TE struggled to get the ball in the basket without their floor general. Next week, the Lady Cougars are back at home for two games, against Suffield and JFK respectively. Good luck ladies.

- The Lady Cougars were in action on Friday, as they took on the Lady Wildcats of Ellington in a CRAL showdown. The game was up and down all night though the Lady Cougars were victorious 54-47. Leading at the half, TE felt secure in how they were playing to that point, however, Ellington didn't back down at the start of the second half. Ellington pressured TE causing turn-over after turn-over. And TE wasn't ready for their pressure. At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Cougars were now down by eight points. Ellington had scored 20 points in the third quarter making the outcome look bleak for TE. The start of the fourth quarter meant the Lady Cougars had to press to get back into the game, and get back into the game they did. Olivia Dzubin sank two three pointers and Shea Brochu added another. Maria Puniello was four of six from the free throw line, twelve points on the night, and Mia Haynes had a career night scoring twelve points as well, with six coming in the second half. Brochu led all scorers with a career high 22 points as the Lady Cougars turned a 10 point deficit into an eight point victory. "Every player contributed tonight," Coach Chandler said. "It was amazing to see how the girls responded after going down by ten points. And respond they did," he added. The Lady Cougars next play away to East Hartford on Tuesday night. Good luck ladies and keep it going!
- Student council will be hosting a rock paper scissors battle from Monday to Friday this week.
