  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV News. Today is Friday October 8th.
  •  This Monday, October 11th, 2021, we will be celebrating Indigenous People’s Day in South Windsor for the very first time! This is a day to observe, to reflect, and to connect through learning about the rich history of Indigenous Peoples that lived on, and protected, this land for many years before colonization. As part of this celebration we would like to start today with a land acknowledgement. A land acknowledgement is a formal statement that recognizes and respects Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of the lands we live on. The rich, fertile soil of the flood-prone South Windsor meadows was the summer home of the Podunks, and used for thousands of years for agriculture, just as the meadows are still largely used today.  We thank them for their strength and resilience in protecting this land, and aspire to uphold our responsibilities according to their example. We will continue to honor the past, present, and futures of Native peoples as we approach Native American History Month which begins on November 1st. You can look forward to more stories and history throughout the entire month.
  • The Timothy Edwards boys soccer team traveled to Manchester last night to take on Illing. In another border war, the Cougars came out on top with a score line of 6-0. Cody Boehm led off the scoring with a tidy finish. Bailey Baker slipped Boehm in behind the defense and the finish was tucked in past the Keeper. Boehm struck again shortly thereafter off a feed from Riley Lyons. Tenacity got Austin Heath on the books as he hustled to get in the end of a Jaxson Hills header. Andrew Butryman finished a pass from Riley Lyons header with his weaker foot to make it 4-0. Lyons wasn’t finished with his contributions as he slotted home a pass from his identical twin brother Blake Lyons. The final tally on the night was Riley Lyons again and it was the best goal of the night. He calmly took the ball out of the air, and before it hit the ground, he smashed it home into the top right hand corner. “A classic finish indeed,” coach Chandler added. The Cougars play at home against sage park on Tuesday after school @ 3:45.
  • The lady Cougars walked away with another win vs. Illing yesterday afternoon. The Cougars dominated possession throughout the entire game with over 30 shots on the game. Lilly "Jaws" Jaworski found the back of the net three times on the day, with assists coming from the Amanda Marques connection, Hailey Olints, and Mia Ruiz. Following up, Pratheeka Dyava was also able to log her first Cougar goal! In the second half, Shea Brochu, Gianna DiSalvatore, and Analyse Mckenna all joined in with goals of their own. However, the goal of the match goes to Gabby DiSalvatore who unleashed a missile from over 25 yards out sending the fans into a frenzy. However, it all would not have been possible without the exceptional composure from Jenna Martin and Evelyn Castro who displayed composure and patience in the back. The Cougars kick off next week vs Sage Park on Tuesday.
