  • The TEMS Boys soccer team battled Tolland last night to a 0-0 tie between the top two teams in the CRAL.  There were many chances from both sides, however, Tolland may have had the best chance when they rattled the crossbar late in the second half.  Field conditions played apart in the composure of the players on both sides, but the intensity was as high as ever throughout the contest.  Joey Bemis and Jude Gonzalez combined for the shutout in goal.  The Cougars play today at 3:30, weather permitting, and again on Thursday here at TEMS in both games.

  • The TE Field Hockey team beat Suffield Middle school yesterday with a score of 6-2. TE got out to an early lead with Kaitlyn Hardy scoring or the Cougars. Suffield quickly answered sneaking a goal past the TE goalie. The Cougars then took control of the game and scored 5 more goals unanswered. Scoring for the Cougars was Kaitlyn Hardy, Avery Yelle and Rachel Turrer with two goals a piece. Jordyn Boland had the only assist. Morgan Reed and Megan Stapelton played one of their best games yet on defense, holding Suffield out of the TE side of the field. Angelina Belizzi had 10 saves and was credited with the win. For the second game, TE again came away with the win with a score of 1-0. Vanessa Liegl scored the only goal on a break a way. Jillian Yelle, Caroline Jacobs and Izzy Dzubin also played very well. Elsa Gately had two saves with great clears to maintain the shutout. TE plays JFK of Enfield today at home. Come out and support the Cougars!!

  • The lady Cougars traveled to face league leaders Tolland yesterday afternoon in a physically demanding match up. The leaders in the back, Haley Butler, Huntyr Courtois, Mikayla Evans, Sidney Montana, and Hailey Testa proved to be vital in the outcome of the game. The five played outstanding between the lines and prevented a number of Tolland attempts on goal. In the beginning of the match, the Cougars struck first with a cross from Isabelle Beaulieu finding the foot of Emerson Iacovelli. Half way through the second half, the Cougars put another on the scoresheet as midfielder Sam Grodovich assisted Arden Sansom who volleyed the cross into the top corner of the net. Late in the second half, Tolland struck twice to tie up the match. Plays of the game came from Haley Butler with 16 saves on the day and Huntyr Courtois who saved a shot off the goal line. The Cougars look forward to their next match this afternoon at Sage Park.

  • Now here is Bridget and Ava with cross country news. The boys cross country team finally got another race in on Monday afternoon, and the wet conditions weren't enough to slow the Cougars down.  TE traveled to Tolland and notched a solid victory, 23 to 36.  Colin Heslin led the team, crossing the line in second overall.  Matt Venzie sped his way to a top 10 finish, passing several runners in his impressive final kick. Andres Anastasi and Ethan Burke both showed some sixth grade strength, breaking into the top 20 overall finishers.  Elijah Chaimovitch, feeling a couple teeth lighter, flew down the final stretch running his best time of the year.  The boys will be back on their home course on Thursday afternoon for the final home meet of the year.
  • The girls cross country team suffered their 1st loss of the season to a tough bunch of Tolland runners last night with a final score of 23 to 32. Despite the loss, TE ran strong making it a close race with tremendous finishes. Audrey Manning finished in 2nd overall in a time of 14:06 with Taylor Lord not far behind, who ran a great race as she passed 2 Tolland runners to come in 3rd place of the 59 runners. Many TE girls moved up several places on the team, pushing themselves to new limits including Prisha Thomas and Annaliese Mills, who both moved up 8 places. An especially outstanding effort was made by 6th grader Julia Rondinone who moved up 13 places while taking minutes off her best time.  The team looks forward to their final home meet at Nevers this Thursday against Sage Park and Two Rivers.
