  • This week is a Cougar week. It is a day 4 for Grade 6 and a day 1 for Grades 7 & 8.
  • This past Saturday, Feb. 27th, Timothy Edwards had three teams of students compete in the Southern New England Regional Science Bowl competition, sponsored by the University of Connecticut. 32 middle school teams from around Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island participated in the all-day virtual event.  Team #1 received high scores in both morning rounds, including the highest score of all 32 teams in round 2.  In the afternoon, Team #1 tied for 6th place out of 32 in the first elimination round, and came in 3rd out of 16 in the second elimination round. While TE didn’t win the overall competition, the students worked and practiced long and hard, and we are very proud of them all! Congratulations to the following students:

Team 1: Adithya Anand, Aarush Argawal; Nithish Jayaraj, Pranay Kakkar, and Jason Thokchom.

Team 2: Aditya Jha, Aryan Manchala, Rishab Premish, Guru Seenivasan, and Vihaan Reddy Vennapureddy.

Team 3: Akshaj Nadimpalli, Ashwin Nair, Mukhil Olinilavan, Jeremy Shiju, and Daniel Stoyanov and substitute Vandith Reddy Vennapureddy.

Highlighting the event was the 3rd Place finish in the Open Division by the Timothy Edwards team of Smriti Rajan, Lalitha Papanasam and Sanjay Rajan. The team went undefeated through three rounds of the tournament and narrowly missed participating in the Championship Round. An incredible individual performance was turned in by Smriti Rajan, who was also awarded 2nd Place as the Overall Individual Debater! Congrats to all debaters - see you at the next Debate Tournament on  April 24th.
