The Rams tried to “nudge” their way back into the contest, but the Lady Cougars were just too much, winning 45-22. Avery Brochu had 12 points and Morgan Bridgeforth added 10. Erin Martin kept the ball moving nicely and though not in the scorebook, contributed in the assist column. Eliza Blanchfield had an all-around strong game, with rebounding, swift passing, and adding three points on the night. Caroline Cavanaugh chipped in four points And Sam Roux had three. Several others made at least one bucket or free throw. Yasmine Abunasra, who finally shot the ball, was rewarded with six points including two from the free-throw line. “It was a great team effort,” Coach Chandler said.  “It was awesome to see what we have worked on and practice came out in the game,” he added. The Lady Cougars will next play against East Hartford or JFK in a CRAL semi-final on Tuesday night. Great job ladies!

  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV News. Today is Thursday, February 3rd.
  • The boys basketball team beat Tolland Middle School on Tuesday. The final score was 67-59. A fourth quarter run put the Cougars ahead and tough defense throughout the fourth led to the win. The Cougars lost to Ellington Middle school on Wednesday, 51-45.  A hard fought game on both ends of the floor but the Cougars couldn’t hold on to the lead.  A three pointer and a couple of made free throws by Ellington late in the game led to the loss. The Cougars fell to 3-6 for the season but look to turn things around Thursday at home against JFK.
  • And now for a Black History Month Spotlight on Erin Jackson.

  • The Lady Cougars made it 5 in a row last night beating the Tolland Falcons 27-15.  It was a good game for the several 8th graders as they took the game over early in the first half.  Mia Ruiz led TE with 8 points, with Erin Martin and Avery Brochu each chipping in 6 a piece.  Eliza Blanchfield swished a nice jump shot from the wing and Sam Roux tacked on a free throw midway through the second half.  Rounding out the scoring were 6th graders Shea Brochu and Morgan Bridgeforth with a bucket a piece.  Defensively, the Lady Cougars were tough throughout the game, holding the Lady Falcons to just 6 points in the second half.  The Lady Cougars next play away to JFK on Thursday.  Good luck ladies and keep the win streak going!

  •  Black History Month offers an important opportunity to honor and highlight the accomplishments of Black Americans in history and society, as we continue the learning throughout the year. This event was first celebrated as a week in February of 1926. The week was expanded to a month in 1976 and became officially recognized by the US Government by President Gerald R. Ford. Throughout the month we will be highlighting stories of influential African Americans and featuring music from Black Creators.
