  • The Lady Cougars girls basketball team hosted top of the table Ellington last night and came away with a resounding 46-27 victory.  The win avenged an early season loss to the Wildcats and now puts TEMS on top of the CRAL table with a 6 and 1 record.  The Lady Cougars played well all night on both ends of the court.  Defensively, they made it difficult for the Wildcats two best players holding them to a total of 17 points.  Offensively, 9 different players scored at least a bucket for TEMS.  The dynamic duo of Morgan Bridgeforth and Kai Grate each had eight.  Keira Deitelbaum and Shea Brochu had 7 apiece.  Emery Forko dropped 5, Teagan Purcell had 3  Gianna DiSalvatore, Maria Puniello, Kylah Wood each had 2 points in the contest and Mia Haynes made one from the charity stripe.  Overall, Coach Chandler was pleased with the effort of all the players.  "Everyone contributed in some way tonight," he stated. • The Lady Cougars hosted the Falcons from East Hartford last night in a mid-table CRAL clash.  The Lady Cougars jumped out early in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way.  Teagan Purcell had 7 points on the night with a couple clutch buckets in the second quarter.  Kai Grate also had 8 points in the quarter with Shea Brochu and Gianna DiSalvatore rounding out the quarter both with two each. DiSalvatore's bucket was huge and she capitalized on a busted play and hit the shot as the buzzer sounded.  The second half was similar to the first with the Lady Cougars finishing on top 49-40.  Morgan Bridgeforth had 6 points all in the first quarter and Grate finished with 18 on the night.  Maria Puniello and Mia Haynes had 6 and 5 points respectively.  Clutch rebounding on the offensive end allowed the Lady Cougars to keep their lead the entire game.  TEMS is  back in action tomorrow when they host Charger from Sage Park after school.  Congrats on the win ladies.
  • The boys basketball team held off East Hartford Middle School to get their second win of the season, 41-39.  The Cougars made clutch free throws to ice the game.  Hard defense throughout the game and unselfish play on offense led the wire to wire victory. Timothy Edwards is heading to Windsor on Thursday to take on Sage Park.
