  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Tuesday, May 21.
  • Congratulations to the girls softball team for their ever-so-important win yesterday against JFK Middle School.  Last time they played, JFK beat TE 5 to 3, but this time around things were different.  TE outscored them 14 to 2, making it 12 runs by the 5th inning, which ended the game in a mercy.  Pitcher Josie Tomkunas pitched one of her best games so far, allowing only 6 hits and striking out 10 batters and she also added 2 hits.  Shortstop Lila Sheridan had 4 hits with one double, Alivia Gliha also had 4 hits, Claire Kaminiski and Riley Quigley each had two hits, with one of those hits being a double from Riley; and Raegan Burnham keeps adding up those RBI's and hits.  Raegan had three hits with one of those hits being a triple and had 4 RBI's.  Amanda Donovan and Maria Puniello added one hit each.  Stay tuned for the news on when the championship game is going to be and where.  Great job yesterday ladies!  Keep it up!
  • The TE baseball team hosted JFK on Thursday in a game that had playoff implications.  Tyler Poland pitched a gem of a game.  However it was not enough as the Cougars lost by a score of 3 to 2.  Trailing 1 to 0 entering the bottom of the 6th inning, Ethan Pugrab crushed a double into the gap scoring Nolan Carling from second base.  A ground out RBI by Kasper Kaczkowski put the Cougars up by a score of 2 to 1 entering the top of the 7th inning.  The Patriots however scored two runs to take a 3 to 2 lead into the bottom of the 7th.  That was enough to seal the victory for the visitors as TE could not get a run across in the last inning.  Carling added two singles and a hit each from Poland and Dash Hayes led the Cougar offense.  TE finishes the season with 6 wins and 4 losses.  Congratulations to the boys on a great effort all year.
  • Thank you to all the students who read and voted for their favorite 2024 Intermediate and Middle School Nutmeg Nominees. • The boys track and field team had their championship meet on Thursday at Ellington.  And while the result wasn't what they wanted, they still finished 2nd in the league.  There were some great performances.  The 4 X 400 team of Alex L, Jeff Z, Adam E, and Zayd S improved their Top Ten time, with a gutsy finish by Zayd S who left nothing in the tank.  The 4 X 800 team of Jeff Z, Timmy C, Justin J, and Zayd S also improved their Top Ten time.  Luis L finished 1st in the Long Jump.  Carter G claimed 3rd place in the Discus.  Alex L placed 3rd in the 400 meter run.  Jeff Z blew the field away in the mile run, finishing first by over 10 seconds. The boys had a great season and now have a few select athletes setting their sights on States.  Good luck to everyone competing and GO COUGARS!
