TE Morning News - January 22, 2019
  • The grade 8 Orchard Hill Connection Program is canceled today due to the delayed opening.

  • Attention 8th Graders: If you are interested in attending the Civic Leadership High School, please sign up in the guidance office for an informational meeting.  This high school focuses on leadership, community engagement and public service.  Many of their students are interested in careers in law enforcement, the fire service, emergency medicine and the practice of law. If you would like more information, please go to the counseling department following this morning's announcement.
  • The Outdoor Education Club has three upcoming trips. We will be snow tubing at Powder Ridge on January 31st, then it’s a rock climbing adventure on February 28th, and lastly we will be going to the South Windsor Arena for ice skating on March 28th.  Please stop by the main office, see Mr. Wilkinson in room 112, or Ms. Nelson in room 251 for a form if you’re interested in any of these adventures.

  • The boys basketball team held on to beat Tolland Middle School last Friday 49-44.  A balanced scoring attack help the Cougars prevail in a tight game throughout.  The defense held Tolland to 7 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.  The Cougars record is 4-4 with two tough games Thursday and Friday.

  • After a very competitive final round, congratulations go out to the following students for their performance in the final round of the National Geographic Bee which was held Friday afternoon:

Third place: 8th grader Valli Penduala

Second place: 7th grader Thomas Jezouit

First place TE winner: 7th grader Nandy Senthilkumar

Nandy will now take the National Geographic Bee qualifying test to determine her eligibility for the state competition held this spring.  Good luck, Nandy, and congratulations to all participants!

  • Are you interested in acceptance, inclusivity, and equality for all? A new club, the GSA, which stands for Gay-Straight Alliance, will be having its first meeting on Wednesday, January 30th. The GSA at TE provides a safe and welcoming space for any student who wants to talk about issues related to sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. During our meetings, we will play games, do team-building activities, and talk about what’s going on in our lives. Through our club, we hope to build a judgment-free community of friends and allies who support one another. It does not matter how you identify; anyone can attend and everyone is welcome. If you have any questions about the GSA, please see Mrs. Zaugg in Room 332 (Pacific Team). We look forward to seeing you at our first meeting after school on Wednesday, January 30th.
  • Today for lunch... In the Create line you can have Chicken Nuggets, in the Grill line you can have Turkey Philly Cheese Steak and in the So Deli line you can have your choice of deli sandwiches.  Have a great day, do your best, and remember to always strive for 5!
