TE Morning News - October 26, 2018
  • What did the football coach say to the vending machine? I want my quarter back!

  • The Field Hockey team faced off against Mabelle Avery Middle School of Somers yesterday on a very cold and windy afternoon. The Cougars started off strong, driving the ball up the field right away. Scoring first for the Cougars was Rachel Turer with a great reverse stick shot right into the net. Tori Jarvis scored next with an assist from Amanda Koziura. Rachel scored the third goal assisted by Emily Osit. Emily then put one in herself with an assist from Avery Yelle. Hanna Edstrom had a quick pass to Avery Pelczar, who sent the ball to Abby Bergstrom who fired the ball right past the goalie to lock in the 5-0 win over Somers. Ria Saxena and Sophia Flores had a combined effort to earn the shutout. Playing great for the  Cougars was Jordyn Boland, Isabelle Goodrich, Kaitlyn Bullock, Alexis Dabrowski, Anna Stapleton, Kaitlyn Hardy, Meredith Pinto, Angelina Bellizzi and Megan Stapleton. TE will play Avery Middle School again Wednesday at home for their final game of the season.

  • The lady Cougars matched up against Tolland in their final game of the season. The Cougars fought hard, but their efforts weren't enough to take down the undefeated opponent. Defensive prowess came from center backs Sidney Montana and Hailey Testa, with support from the flanks including Mikayla Evans and Leighana Ferabello. The midfield held their own as Iniya Raja, Emerson Iacovelli, Chion Pollard, and Katelyn Roux supported the center of the field with style and grace. Up at the front of the line, shots on target came from Lexi Lilly, Sarah Gordon, Arden Sansom, and Emily Ledger. Notable plays of the game came from the likes of goal keeper Haley Butler, who had 8 saves on the day. Butler demonstrated composure and leadership between the pipes. Also, notable was the performance by Megan Martin, who despite an ongoing injury, braved the cold and wind to ensure that the lady Cougars were in high spirits throughout the game. The Cougars conclude the season with five wins and six losses. The team was lead by captains Lexi Lilly, Megan Martin, and Sarah Gordon with support from fellow 8th graders Iniya Raja, Emily Ledger, Anna Matus, Chion Pollard, and Abby Peruccio. A big thanks to the team and the 8th graders for all their positivity and leadership throughout the season.
