TE Morning News - October 24, 2018
  • Another victory was celebrated by the girls cross country team at Ellington yesterday with a final score of 25 to 49.  Other than one Ellington runner, it was all purple, black, and white crossing the finish line in the top 15 places led by Audrey Manning coming in first overall in a time of 11:52.  Alyssa Drenga had the best run of her season finishing in 5th overall, and Morgan Caron ran her fastest yet, placing in the top 15 while moving up several places on the team.  Also looking strong was Chiara Papa, who placed 7th, and Samantha Drezek and Ava Magarian who both pushed each other as they used the downhill to speed through the finish.  The cougars look forward to eating queso at Moe's after their league meet on Monday where they aim to put Tolland back in their place and become league champions.  Best of luck to all runners!

  • The Boys Cross Country team finished off their undefeated regular season with an impressive performance against Ellington on Tuesday afternoon. After an Ellington runner took the overall victory, the Cougars followed with the next 11 runners, led by Ares Savvides in second and Aidan Walsh and Sean Habeeb closely behind. Alex Matus had his best race of the year, crossing the line in sixth place and helping TE to the 20 to 43 victory. Eoin Gately had a great finish, using the steep downhill to sneak by an Ellington runner in the final feet. The team travels to Manchester next Monday for the the league championship race, where they hope to win back the first place trophy.
