TE Morning News - September 24, 2018
  • Good Morning TE - The 3rd Annual PTO Walk-A-Thon will kick off on Wednesday.  This is our only fundraiser of the school year and we need your support!  Our school goal is to raise $20,000 and our individual student goal – that’s you – is to raise $50.  The money we raise helps to support activities and events sponsored by our school.  On Wednesday you will receive a packet of information that tells you and your family how to go on line to begin the pledge process.  So our kick off date is Wednesday, September 26th.  Our Walk-a-Thon date is Wednesday, October 17th.  You will have almost a month to get those pledges.   There are incentives, too!  As you raise money, your name gets put into a raffle to win some pretty cool prizes like gift cards to Starbucks, Barnes/Noble, Ben and Jerry’s, Jump Off and CineMark.  Also, the top fundraising student in each grade will receive a $100 cash prize, and the overall top team will win a pizza party.  We will be highlighting amounts raised by each team in the cafeteria so that you can watch how your team is doing.  So let’s get ready to do our best to reach that goal!! Have a great day, do your best and ALWAYS STRIVE FOR FIVE plus ONE.
  • Attention 8th Graders: After School Intramural Basketball will begin on Monday, October 1st.  If interested, please pick up a packet from your PE teacher, the front office, or in Room 262.  You must have all forms signed and returned to Room 262 in order to participate. Registration is open to the first 24 students to bring in their signed forms.

  • Attention all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders: The Outdoor Education Club will be having three adventures this October.  First is a bike trip around Block Island on Saturday, October 13th.  Then, on October 17th we will take a hike at Case Mountain in Manchester, and the last trip is to Foster Farm for the corn maze and hayride on October 24th.  Please see Mr. Wilkinson in room 112 or Ms. Nelson in room 251 or stop by the main office if you’re interested in any of these trips. • The Boys Cross Country team ran their first race of the season Saturday morning and put on an impressive performance. The weather finally felt good and the team looked fast as they successfully defended their title as champions of the Harry Geraghty Invitational. Colin Heslin led the way with the overall victory, followed closely by Aidan Walsh taking second.  Jason Soloperto ran a strong race, finishing in the top 20 and crossing the line almost 2 and a half minutes quicker than last year. Max Plunske and Nathan Grilli also had great races, showing their hard work has led to significant improvement.  The will be back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Enfield to race at JFK.
