  • Yesterday evening, the TE Girls Soccer Team met long-standing rivals Ellington at Cougar Stadium in what turned out to be a match to remember. Early chances on goal came from the feet of Sarah Gordon, Sam Wunsch, and Candace Walsh as the Cougars looked to rally their offense. However, it was the Wildcats who struck first with an early goal, setting the game to 1-0. Moments later, as the Cougars began to press, Rhianna O'Meara slotted a right-footed strike off the post and in to make the score 1-1. The deadlock lasted through the first half as Iniya Raja, Emerson Iacovelli, Leighana Ferrabelo, and Abby Peruccio secured the defensive end. Opening after half time, the aggressive press from wingers Huntyr Courtois and Lexie Wheeler led to scoring opportunities for Lexi Lilly, but great defensive play from Ellington kept the score tied. Amazing defensive efforts sparked from Ellinor Edstrom as she denied offensive threats and evenly distributed the ball to the midfield. Maria Galley held her position between the pipes making a total of 10 saves on the day. Later in the match, a sublime pass from Ella Suppicich led Taryn Suffish to find the back of the net bringing the score to 2-1. Suffish struck again with an assist from Candace Walsh as the Cougars rallied around the final moments of the game. Suffish posted her first two goals of the season and her tenacity proved to be exactly what the Cougars needed to pull off the win. The Cougars face East Hartford on Tuesday home at 3:30. There are only two home games remaining! Come out and support the team!
  • The TE Boys soccer team traveled to yet another away game last night to play against the Wildcats of Ellington.  It was a great contest and the two sides were of equal quality.  Both teams had quality chances throughout the match with the best one falling for Dylan Hutton.  Unable to convert, the scoreline remained 0-0 going into halftime.  After the second half whistle had blown Ellington upped their pressure on the Cougars.  With the mentality of "bend and don't break" looked like it was going to hold out through the final whistle.  However, the quick footed front player of Ellington skipped passed the defense and buried the ball into the side netting for the game winner.  Jaideep Naik, Damian Ayala, Xavier Crane, and Andrew Bell were stall-worths in the back.  Sam Maleshenko was a threat up top as and Ben Bernstein shot was saved late in the second half.  The Cougars next game is Tuesday as they travel to East Hartford.

  • Yesterday, the girls soccer team matched up against Kennedy Middle School in what turned out to be a nail-biter. The Cougars struck early with eight shots in the first half coming from Lexie Wheeler, Emily Ledger, Sarah Gordon, Sam Wunsch, Lexi Lilly, and Marybeth Grasso. However, it was not long until Rhianna O'Meara threaded a through ball behind the defense to find the foot of Lexi Lilly. Lilly posted her first goal as a Lady Cougar off a hard strike into the top right corner of the goal. Shortly after, Rhianna O'Meara sent a blistering shot over the goalie from outside the 18-yard box. The goal was said to be reminiscent of the late Manchester United superstar David Beckham. Additionally, Mikayla Evans, Huntyr Courtois, and Arden Sansom played outstanding and contributed to the Cougar's dominance during the first half of play. Defensive support came from Ella Suppicich, Haydin Courtois, and Megan Martin as they held Kennedy to a scoreless first half. In the second, the Cougar's let an early goal pop in to the back of the net bringing the score to 2-1. Momentum shifted again as a late penalty kick led to an even 2-2. Despite the amazing efforts by Taryn Suffish, Rhianna O'Meara, and Candace Walsh the game ended in a tie with both teams leaving it all out on the field. The Cougars face long-time rivals Ellington in Cougar Stadium tomorrow at 3:30. Come out and support the team!
  • TE field hockey played on the road against a very strong Stafford team. Although the Lady cougars had a very strong second-half they had to settle for a 2-2 tie.  First half goal came from Kelly Mann assisted by Josie Foley. Second-half goal came from Josie Foley with an amazing break away shot. Maliya "big toe" Haddock played extremely well considering back to back injuries. Christina Bellizzi, Maya Lagasse, Grace Reed and Tori Jarvis played extremely well on D. Kayden Burke controlled the midfield with Anna Kim leading the attack. Ria Saxena and had 10 saves in goal.
  • In the second game TE came away with a 2-0 loss. Gianna Bellody and Nicole Mann did a great job supporting the ball on offense while Kaylee Guerrera, Alexa Parada and Amanda Kozuira and Morgan Reed controlled the midfield. Haley Jarvis Greta Slater and Lily McCulley played strong defense.
  • The TEMS boys soccer team traveled to Enfield last night to take on JFK. It was a hard-fought contest throughout, however, the Cougars were on the losing end with a score of 3-1. after the first half, which was extremely hot and filled with multiple water breaks, Andrew Bell scored his first ever TEMS goal bringing the score level at 1. the Cougars continued to press to try to get the second goal, however it was JFK who took advantage on a corner. JFK's player was left unmarked in the center of the box and headed in the game-winner. Down 2-1, the Cougars pressed harder and harder, but where on the wrong end of a counter-attack which led to the third and final goal leaving JFK the victors. Alex Magarian, Sam Melashenko, Xavier crane, played well during the game. Jack Stricker and Ben Bernstein Supply numerous crosses throughout the contest. The Cougars look back look to get back to their winning ways on Thursday when they travel to Ellington for yet another away game.

  • The TE girls soccer team hosted their second game of the season versus Illing last Friday. Marybeth Grasso led the team with an early goal in the first 10 minutes of play which proved to be all that the Cougars needed. While the Cougar's secured a healthy victory, Illing made a handful of offensive efforts that kept the Cougars on edge. Maria Galley stayed strong between the goal posts making a spectacular breakaway save with her feet that sent the fans to their feet. Haydin Courtois, Rhianna O'Meara, and Taryn Suffish effectively threaded through balls to the wings keeping the Illing defense at bay. However, it was ultimately the scrappy plays from Marybeth Grasso that propelled the Cougars to the victory as she found the back of the net three more times bringing the tally to 4-0. Following up on the offensive end, Lexi Lilly, and Sarah Gordon demonstrated outstanding physical play with great support from wingback's Leighanna Ferrabello, Megan Martin, and Ellinor Edstrom. The Cougar's host their next game today at 3:30 against Kennedy Middle School. Come out and support the team!

The breezy and warm afternoon did nothing to slow down Jude Gonzalez as he took over a minute off his time from last meet.  The team will be back on the home course on Friday against some very good competition at the Harry Geraghty invitational.
  • Congratulations to the girls cross country team on their first victory Friday of 23 to 38 against Illing of Manchester.  Coming in 1st place of 49 runners was Audrey Manning with a time of 14:34.  Emma Lord broke into the top 5 of TE runners taking 39 seconds off her time from Tuesday finishing the race in 6th place.  Also looking strong was Amanda Walsh who set a goal to finish in the top 30, completing the race in 23rd with a 46 second personal best.  Aleena Shah had a great day, running over 3 minutes faster than her last time.  The performance of the meet was made by 6th grader Morgan Caron who took an astounding 4 minutes and 16 seconds off her time moving up from 31st on the team to 17th.  Great job to all runners!  The girls look forward to the Harry Geraghty invitational meet this Friday against several middle school teams from around the state.  Best of luck to both teams!!
  • The TE boys soccer team traveled to Manchester on Friday night and came away with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the illing Rams. The first half was exciting and even, with both teams scoring in the opening frame. AJ Faust, hit a fire cracker of a shot, from the left side of the goal, opened the scoring for TE. The wind played a major role in the game, however the cougars were able to capitalize late in the second half. A fine turn from Bryan Fishman in the Box led to the final tally of which he slotted into the side-netting. Alex magarian played great defensively as did Jaideep Naik, Andrew Bell, Xavier Crane and Faust. Sam Meleshenko created havoc up top, while the other cougars pressed forward to get the game-winning goal. Up next, another away contest against JFK of Enfield on Tuesday.
