  • Good morning. By now I am sure you are all aware that school will be closing for a couple of weeks because of the Coronavirus.  As I have told many of you before, our very first job as the adults who work in this school is to make sure you are safe and well. School is cancelled for at least two weeks so that we can do just that - keep you safe and well by trying to limit the spread of illness.  Our school will be temporarily closed and given an extra good cleaning, and we will be back in our classes before you know it.  One of the questions that you might have right now is whether or not we will be taking part in our Snow Day Scholars Program.  I am going to come back on the news later today to talk about that. For now, it is important for you to know that you should pack up your Chromebook and charger to take home today.  In fact, you should plan to take home all of your belongings...lunch boxes, sweatshirts, jackets, gym clothes….Your teachers are going to give you some time today to clean out your lockers so you won’t leave anything important behind. So...I will come back on the intercom later today.  Meanwhile we will have our normal Friday, business as usual, and I hope it is a good one for you. Have a great morning.

  • Attention all students and staff. This is Brock Kelly. Brock's Art class just finished an abstract collage project and learned about Color Relativity. Mrs. Gravel´s student teacher, Mr. Baris, let the 7th grade class explore with shapes and color. Brock's pencil holder demonstrates the use of shapes and color. Notice how the color blast of yellow draws your attention to the words. Brock's pencil holder can be found at the Security desk located at the main entrance. If you find a pencil, pen, or eraser on the ground, drop it in here! Lost your pencil? Check the pencil Lost and Found. Need a pencil? Check the pencil Lost and Found. Thank you for keeping our halls and stairways safe and clean... and thanks for helping a friend!

  • Good morning. As you know, kids from our POP Preschool Program are collecting items for our local animal shelters. Large decorated boxes are located around the school in the hallways so any donated items can be dropped off there. Items to be donated can include dog and cat treats, collars, toys, food bowls, paper towels, etc. A list of items needed is located near the boxes for your convenience. Additionally, the Poppers will be holding a parade on Thursday, March 12th in the afternoon. This is where we need your help! If you could please consider donating $1 or an item for the shelter, the Pop kids will be SO happy! As they parade by your class, you can drop your $1 donation tin their bucket or place your item in their wagon. The Poppers are very excited about the parade and your donation will certainly put a smile on their faces. So PLEASE, consider donating to a very good cause that is in need. And on behalf of the Poppers, Peer Mediation, and the “Be The Change Club”, thank you very much!

  • Congrats to our TE 6th-grade girls and boys travel basketball teams!

Our sixth-grade girls had an outstanding season.  They had a grueling game against Tolland yesterday, where they took second place in their division.  Their hard work and determination this season was what brought them to their 13-6 season record.  The girls' team, consisting of Yasmine Abunasara, Eliza Blanchfield, Avery Brochu, Caroline Cavanaugh, Izabel Dzubin, Harshitha Gavara, Shennyn Giannelli, Erin Martin, Samantha Roux, Mia Ruiz, and Tyalor Zanelli showed great sportsmanship and an amazing effort throughout all of their games and we could not have been any prouder of them.

The 6th grade boys team also had a championship game yesterday defeating Stafford 50-47.  South Windsor Boys ends the season at 17-2 and NCC 6th grade champions. Congratulations to the boys team consisting of Eli Blumenthal, Jaden Bridgeforth, Liam Davis, Tyler Dill, Brayden Edwards, Alex Freitas, Ryan Laguardia, Ryder Hays, Dom MacNeil, and  Shaurya Ranjan.

  • On Saturday Rishabh, Aarush, Mehana, Jani, Daniel, and Aricka represented TE at the Connecticut State MathCounts competition.   Competing against the top 18 schools in the state, and 150 participants, the team of Rishabh, Aarush, Mehana and Jani placed TE a very respective 7th place overall.  Congratulations to these six TE mathletes for their efforts and doing a great job representing TE.
  • On Saturday Feb. 29th, two teams of TEMS students competed in the 2020 Connecticut Middle School Science Bowl held at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.  Although this was the second year that a team from TE competed, it was a first for these students.  Overall the two teams did very well for a first try, coming in 8th and 13th out of 32 teams in the morning round-robin competition.  In the afternoon brackets competition, Team B ended up in 5th place overall, giving the undefeated East Lyme Team a run for their money.  The East Lyme coach came over to congratulate the TE team, saying that our students scored the highest against East Lyme all day, and predicting that TE students would go to nationals in 2 years.  Congratulations and a job well done to Adithya Anand, Aditya Jha, Ashwin Nair, Jason Thokchom, Pranay Kakkar, Aarush Agarwal, Aryan Manchala, Anushree Sabade, Vihaan Reddy Vennpureddy, and Nithish Jayaraj. Special thanks to Samarth Bansanth who came to all the practices and scrimmages, but unfortunately had to miss the competition on Saturday.
