  • Good morning TE - I’m here today to share some news with you.  I have submitted my letter of intent to retire as principal of this school, effective June 30th.  I have been in South Windsor for 34 years in the capacity of teacher and administrator and have enjoyed my journey over the years.  I am telling you this today because I shared this news with parents at my PTO meeting last night and I will share in a school message today, but I wanted to be sure that you heard this from me.  I love you all and you are the biggest part of my work that I will miss – but it’s time for me to explore other interests and……I’m here for the rest of this school year. As always, work hard, do your best and ALWAYS STRIVE FOR FIVE plus one!

  • The boys cross country team finished off a very successful season with a strong showing at the state meet on Sunday.  Great job racing by Matt Venzie, Travis Willcox, and Andres Anastasi, as they each took home medals for finishing in the top 50 of the B race.  In the championship race, the Cougars were led by Ares Savvides, who ran a smart race to finish as the 34th fastest runner in the state.  Aidan Walsh, and Sean Habeeb both finished in top 85 and Ollie Durbois, Colin Grip, Ben Tortora and Colin Turer all powered through the mud to help the boys finish as the 13th place team in the state.  Congratulations to the team for an undefeated regular season, the Harry Geraghty championship, and being an awesome team.   Please return your clean uniforms in a bag to Ms. Nelson's classroom, number 251.

  • A big congratulations to the girls cross country team for their great performances at the state meet!  The ladies came in 19th out of 49 teams and embraced the muddy conditions as they cruised through the course.  In the A race, TE's top 7 girls ran strong including Audrey Manning and Taylor Lord who both earned a medal as they finished in the top 50 coming in 36th and 47th place.  Kaitlyn Dempsky and Riley Baker represented TE well each holding their own, finishing in the top half of the fastest runners in CT.  Molly Caron, Alyssa Drenga, and Kavya Ramasamy all had excellent finishes as they killed the final hill on the course.  A job well done to Chiara Papa who fearlessly led the B race, finishing in 28th place of 290 runners.  Brooke Stapleton subbed in for a hurt athlete and ended up being the 3rd TE runner in the B race finishing in 88th.  A huge thank you to managers Eve Lagasse, Alyssa Mazzie, and Gianna Murray for all their help and team spirit throughout the season.  Another big thanks to Mr. Denker and Mrs. Baker for all their help at our meets.  All athletes may turn in their cleaned uniforms with their name on the bag to Coach Nelson in room 251 by the end of the week.  Please stay tuned for a day and time for our end of season party.  Great season to all runners!!

  • The Field Hockey team played their last game of the season yesterday afternoon against Mabel B Avery Middle School of Somers. TE went on the attack early, forcing the ball to the Avery side of the field. Scoring first for the Cougars was Amanda Koziura, firing a shot right past the goalie assisted by Alexis Dabrowski. Alexis scored the next goal off of a great pass by Amanda. The third goal was scored by Emily Osit, with a powerful shot assisted by Alexa Parada. The last goal of the first half was scored by Kaylie Guerrera, with an assist from Sophie Finer. With the starters back on the field to start the second half, the Cougars didn't wait long to continue their scoring attack. Sophie fired in the fifth goal with an assist from Giana Bellody. Coach Custer decided to switch up the game, allowing the defenders to join in on the attack. Greta Slater had a great pass along the goal line to Avery Fournier, hammering the ball into the goal for the seventh goal of the game. Rachel Turer made her presence known scoring the eighth and final goal of the game. Sophia Flores and Ria Saxena worked together to lock down the 8-0 shutout. The Cougars finish their season with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses. Coach Custer and Coach Wilkinson will really miss this 8th grade group and wish you luck as you move on to play at the high school.
