  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Monday, November 6.
  • The girl's cross country team placed 3rd  in large division schools this Saturday at the Middle School State Championship. They all ran a tough, muddy 2.3 miles. Jana Brownbill came in 18th with a time of 15:31 followed by Ali Kupec with a time of 15:52, Aktihmi Koththigoda 15:58, Greta Johnson 16:17, Charlotte Zhang 16:35, Nora Cayward 17:06, and Mia Delany 17:52. This girl's finished out the season with an impressive 5-1 record.
  • The boys' cross country team competed in the State meet this past Saturday. The conditions were not ideal, but the boys pushed through. In the A Race, Jeffery Zeng and Graeme Taylor both finished the race in under 15:00 minutes. Aiden Pilatti finished in 15 minutes and 8 seconds, within the first 100 runners. Veer Rupani and Evan Taylor were the final two racers to score points for TE in the A Race -- finishing around the 16-minute mark. In the B Race, Durvaank Patel was one of the top fifty finishers, and Peyton Goudreault and Advik Roshan also had very strong races, as well.  Congrats to all the runners on a great season.
  • On Saturday, the Timothy Edwards Debate Team was shattering records!! First, TE set the record for sending the most number of debaters from one school to the Connecticut Middle School Debate League's November 4th Scrimmage and Tournament, shattering the previous record held by Middlebrook Middle School. Great job TEMS debaters! Next, TE set a record by sending the most number of judges to one debate event. Special thanks to the huge number of South Windsor High School students who joined a few TEMS parents as volunteer judges. Last - and perhaps best, the team of Henry Venne, Keshav Prem and Peter Venne placed 2nd in the OPEN Tournament. This is the best finish of any TEMS team in the history of TEMS Debating. By securing second place, the team qualified for the Championship Invitational in April 2024! Congrats gentlemen! In terms of individual speakers, TEMS set yet another record by placing a record 5 speakers in the Top 20 speakers in the OPEN Division. Top ranked TE debater was Henry Venne in 6th place, followed by Peter Venne in 7th place, Aarav Pruthi in 12th, Suhani Kapil in 14th and Keshav Prem in 15th place! Fantastic day for all debaters from TE!!  Next tournament is Saturday December 16th... so, let's go TE... more records are waiting to be broken.
  • Start collecting your loose change, Cougars! From Monday November 13th to Friday November 17th CougarTHON is hosting Penny Wars! • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, November 3.
  • Last night the TEMS girls soccer team faced JFK Middle School for the CRAL Championship. The last time TEMS played JFK the game ended in a 2-2 tie. The Lady Cougars knew it was going to be a tough match and they needed to come out strong and that is just what they did. In the first half the ball was buzzing around the field. JFK just could not keep up. It was goal, after goal, after goal. We were on FIRE! The Lady Cougars ended up placing 4 balls in the back of the net in the first half. The half ended 4-0 us. There was a big pep talk from Captain Allison Marques at the half. JFK came out strong in the second half. They were able to score 2 goals to make the game 4-2. The Cougars held a strong defensive and thanks to goal keeper Victoria Maachi the Cougars were able to walk away with the win. The TEMS girls soccer team wins the 2023 championship. Their final record was 13-0-1. The team would also like to congratulate the boys team on their win last night against Ellington. Coach B and Coach Sayed give a special shout out to all 8th grades; Shea, Allison, Gianna, Gamble, Liston, Doreen, Evelyn, Julia Thorne, Marin and managers Quyen and Mia. Thanks for an awesome season ladies. Let's do it again next year!
  • Last night the TEMS Boys Soccer team hosted the Ellington Wildcats in the CRAL Championship game.  Both teams were poised to take home the hardware but only one team could as one team had to be crowned champion.  The early stages of the match were controlled very efficiently by the Cougars, as they passed the ball around confidently.  One chance was saved by their keeper, another missed just wide.  The Wildcats weathered the storm and had a few chances of their own, though Aniron Pal sucked everything up like a vacuum.  The score at halftime was 0-0, though it felt like TE had the better of the play.  The second half was much of the same.  TE was attacking relentlessly.  Garren Kerashsky narrowly missed, and Dillon Leacu had his effort tipped onto the bar and it landed just in front of the line.  Fortunately, for Ellington, no one attacked the loose ball and the chance fizzled away.  Dalton Crane, Logan Jackson and Dave Nise, were solid defensively all game.  6th graders Jaxson Blanchfield and Sammy Forko filled in nicely on the right side as well.  As the final whistle blew, the score was still tied 0-0.  Both games against Ellington were draws during the regular season , however, in the tournament there must be a winner so the match went into overtime.  Zayd Sebro pressed, Mo Rahman battled, and Haris worked tirelessly throughout the game.  With the first 5- minute overtime in the books, the Cougars had 5 minutes left in their season.  A corner was earned with about one minute left on the clock.  Aaron Cherian sprinted to the ball to serve it into the box.  As the ball floated in the mixer, the rowdy crowd went uncharacteristically silent.  The ball was lofted over the keeper and found Crane's head.  His header was pure and it found the back of the net.  What was a silent crowd for a couple seconds, it immediately erupted as the Cougars took the 1-0 lead.  Once the final whistle blew, Coach Chandler was extremely relieved.  "The best two teams were in the final.  It was a great game and it just went our way today," he stated.  Dalton Crane added, "I'm super happy with how the team played today.  I think the returning players have a good chance to repeat next season."  Congratulations on a great season boys, an undefeated one at that.  The Cougars finished the year, with a 12-0-2 record.  Congratulations to all of you.

  • The TEMS Boys soccer team played host to the Illing Rams last night in the semi-final round of the CRAL playoffs.  TE went into the game as the number one seed and boy, did they prove it.  The Cougars came out firing on all cylinders.  Smooth passing and crisp movement all over the pitch gave the Cougars the overall advantage in the match. Aaron Cherian opened the scoring early in the first half, finishing a pass from Mo Rahman into the bottom left hand corner of the net.  The Cougars' press continued and it paid off more quickly than the Rams wanted.  Dalton Crane, finished a nice cross from Haris Ahinipotoku, with his head making it 2-0.  Shortly thereafter, Garren Kerachsky found himself free on the the left side.  His perfectly timed cross found Zayd Sebro in the middle of the box.  His finish was extremely cheeky as he looked like Lionel Messi finishing a goal.  The scoring didn't stop there, Carson Henriques slotted in Doug Quiuqui effortlessly and he finished his chance making it four!  The Rams provided little in terms of attach for the rest of the match.  But the Cougars were determined to prove their worth.  Kerachsky found himself free in the box for the fifth goal of the game, while Rahman turned receiver and put the game to bed, finishing off a pass from Adam Elsendyouney.  "I was a little concerned about this match after watching the boys warm up", Coach Chandler said.  "However, they proved me wrong quickly with a plethora of goals, some of which were top class", he added.  The Cougars play against Ellington today for the CRAL Championship.  Good luck boys!
  • The TE girls soccer team makes it to the CRAL final. The lady Cougars will play on Thursday at 3:45 at Nevers. Last night was a tough match for the Cougars. The game started off with a quick foul. This led to Allison Marques taking a direct kick right outside the 18 which led to the first goal for the lady Cougars. The lady Cougars were fired up! Kinsley Wood took a PK for the Cougars in the first half to make the score 2-0. The half ended 3-0 Cougars. Early in the second half, Sienna DiSalvatore passed a beautiful through ball to Emily Gamble who fired one in the back of the net! The game didn't stop there. Suffield game back with two goals. The final score was 5-2! Good luck in the final ladies!
