And last year we had over 40 students get recognized for their art or writing. We are offering an opportunity for students to work in structured setting, with some guidance from teachers, on their writing for this competition. We are offering several sessions after school. Mondays will be designated for sixth grades, and Wednesdays for seventh and eighth graders.  If interested, please head to the TE Homepage and find the "Connecticut Writing Project Club" link or see Mr. Millard in Room 331 or Mr. Stinchon in Room 262.  Deadline to enter is Friday, October 28th.
  • The TEMS girls soccer team defeated Illing yesterday afternoon with a score of 4-0. Opening the score sheet was Alina Zajac who received the ball from Gianna DiSalvatore, Zajac had a powerful strike rippling the back of the net. Shortly after, Pratheeka Dyava was able to poke the ball in bringing the score to 2-0. Rounding out the first half, Kylah Wood found the lower corner of the net rallying the team. In the second half, Gianna DiSalvatore threaded a ball in behind the Illing defense which was hammered into the corner by Kylah Wood. The Cougar's totaled over 25 shots with chances from Lily Jaworski, Allison Marques, and Abigail Ambooken. The team was simply bubbling with energy especially Maddie Edwards, Aleksa Zajac, and Ari Flores who were constantly up and down the field. Play of the game is awarded to Shea Brochu who put her body on the line to block a free kick and likely prevented a goal. Brochu is in world class form and continues to prove her value to the team. Between the pipes, Hannah Kowalchik and Olivia Lopez each had a pair of saves and kept the clean sheet. The Cougars look forward to a competitive match at JFK on Monday
  • The TE Boys soccer team lost their first match of the season last night to Illing in Manchester by the score of 2-1.  Scoring the first goal of the game for the Cougars was Haris Zhinipotoku. The Cougars couldn't get anything else past the Illing defense though they tried often.  Illing came back with two quick responses turning the game around for them.  It was a hard fought game in the end.  The Cougars are now 6-1-1 on the season.
