  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, October 13.
  • And now for Walk A Thon News...As of today we have raised a total of $12,305 which is 49.22% of our school goal. We are halfway there and need your help to finish strong. 8th grade really made a leap this week and is closing the gap between the grades. 6th grade is still in the lead raising $4850, 7th grade in second with $3975, and 8th grade is closing in with $3480. 8th grade has never won before. If the 8th graders could pull this off they'd be the first in history!  Let's all work together to spread the word this weekend and bring in those donations for our school!
  • The girls soccer team faced Illing last night and walked away with yet another win. The final score of the game was 4-0. The Lady Cougars dominated the first half. Early in the first half, Kinsley Wood passed the ball to striker Emily Ward who fired one in the back of the net. The half ended 2-0. In the second half, Sienna DiSalvatore crossed the ball in and  8th grader Shea Brochu had a beautiful header that landed in the back of the net. We didn't stop there. Aleksa Zajac fought hard to beat the defense and ended up with a breakaway and placed one in the back of the net. Coach B and Coach Sayed were very impressed. The girls team hosts Sage Park on Tuesday.
  • The TEMS Boys soccer team hosted Illing last night and secured the victory 4-0.  Yet another shutout for the defense and the goalkeeper, Aniron Pal.  The Cougars were dominant the entire game, but could only muster one goal in the first half.  Haris Zhinipotoku served a ball into the box and after it bounded around in the mixer, AJ Bryson pounced and pushed it across the line for the 1-0 lead.  Coach Chandler rallied the troops in the second and the Cougars scoring continued.  Garren Kerachsky did just enough to get his effort over the end line.  Their keeper made a diving save to keep it out, but the referee gave it a goal in the end.  Matteo Heredia pulled a Lloyd Christmas and "totally redeemed himself" getting on the end of a Aaron Cherian cross to make it 3-0.  Finally, Doug Quiuqui was past his marker on the wing and crossed a gem of a pass to Zayd Sebro, who calmly walked around two defenders and buried his shot to the back post rounding out the scoring.  The Cougars are off till next Tuesday when they travel to Windsor to play the Sage Park Chargers.
  • The TE field hockey team came away with a great win against JFK of Enfield by a score of 3-0. TE came out strong with a quick goal by the speedy Tori Yelle. Yelle would score 2 more times for her first hattrick of her career.  Captains Emily, Emma, Prithi, and Molly played the entire game and never looked back.  Prithi and Emily dominated the midfield while Emma and Molly held JFK's offense to only 3 shots on goal. Coach Ainslee Deptula motivated the team to its 3rd win.  Vanessa "Pasta" Primavera showed tremendous determination and aggressive play on the right side of the field.  In the second game TE came away with a 2-0 loss.  Playing well for the Cougars was Reagan Burnham, Ipshita Singh, Anika Bansal, Anisha Prakash and Diya Arvind.  TE's next game is Monday is away in Granby.

  • The TE Cougars continued their winning ways last night defeating Ellington 2-0 at Cougar Stadium.  The game started with a bang as Alex Ndiaye was fouled in the penalty area.  He calmly stepped up to the spot and buried the ensuing penalty kick, making the score 1-0.  The first half was completely dominated by the Cougars as Ben Perkins, Blake Lyons and Jack Cinxo controlled the midfield.  In the back, Aidan Matus and David Nise played smartly as they alternated at right defender, while Mason Smith filled in nicely on the left side of the defense.  The second half was a little more even in terms of chances.  Fan Linares made two nice saves to keep the score line at 1-0.  It wasn't until the 62 minute, when Lyons drove the end line and crossed the ball into Chirag Balaji who buried his chance at the back post.  The final score of 2-0 was justified.  Up next the Cougars travel to Illing today after school.
  • The TE girls soccer team defeated Ellington 2-0 in a physical match yesterday afternoon. The TE girls totaled an astounding 20 shots on goal and dominated play in the midfield with incredible athleticism from Gianna DiSalvatore and Annabel Ambooken. The first goal came off the hard work of Alina Zajac who won a tackle off an Ellington goal kick and scored from outside the box. In the second half, Alina Zajac was involved again, with a through ball onto Kylah Wood, who calmly found the corner of the goal. While the goals resulted in the victory Allison Marques, Nora Carty, and Jenna Martin remained consistent with superb effort and energy to keep the clean sheet. However, player of the game goes to Shea Brochu for making countless tackles and breaking up the Ellington attack. Brochu's confidence to win the ball in the defending end was surely vital for the Cougar's victory. Lastly, Olivia Lopez and Hannah Kowalchik recorded a total of 6 saves on the day. The team looks forward to hosting their next home game this afternoon vs. Illing.

  • The girls cross country team maintained their undefeated status last night with another win against Sage Park of Windsor.  With a score of 15-50, TE took the top 7 places in the race.  This included Lavanya Rathore in 1st place, followed closely by Izzy Carpenter in 2nd.  Not far behind in 3rd and 4th were Megan Foster and Olivia Stoner, who ran smart by running together during the race pushing one another.  Clinching the final 3 spots attaining TE's perfect score were Caroline Cavanaugh, Rachel Matyschsyk, and Erin Fang.  Great job to all runners!  The Cougars are working to continue their winning streak at their final meet next Thursday against St. James and TE's toughest competitor, Tolland.  Good luck TE!
  • On a warm Tuesday afternoon in Windsor, the boys cross country team improved their record to 3 and 1 with a strong win over Sage Park.  Blake Wool took off fast from the start and held strong throughout to secure the overall victory.  Karthik Srikumar showed off some toughness as he outsprinted a Sage Park runner to crack the top 6 in the race and 5th for the team.  Jerry Zhu ran well to earn a spot in the top 10 and Akilan Anand worked hard for his best finish of the season in 13th.  The Cougars return to action next Thursday when they host Tolland and St James at Nevers Park.
  • The TEMS lady Cougars kicked off against Sage Park taking another victory - winning 6-0. Lilly Jaworski found the back on the net early in the first half with an assist from Maeve Verzella. However, throughout the remainder of the first, the Cougars couldn't seem to add to their tally despite great distribution from Kylah Wood and Hailey Olints. However at half, the Cougars refocused and went on the attack with some exceptional wing play and a barrage of crosses into the box. Lilly Jaworski stunned fans as she slotted in another 3 goals on the day with a range of assists coming from Gabby DiSalvatore, Gianna DiSalvatore, and Teagan Purcell. The Cougar midfield dominated the center of the park with outstanding athletic contributions from Rebecca Koshy, Maddie Edwards, and Pratheeka Dyava. Rounding out the score sheet was Gianna DiSalvatore who finished with 1 goal and 2 assists on the day, Mia Ruiz tallied an assist, and Maeve Verzella who was able to find her goal late in the game to conclude the match. Cougars are at East Hartford on Thursday.
  • The Boys soccer team played Sage Park of Windsor last night and unfortunately fell to the Chargers by the score of 3-1.  Cody Boehm had the lone goal, which cam in the first half, off an assist from Austin Heath.  The balance of play was in Sage Park's favor for most of the game after that.  The Chargers scored three times, one before half and two after the intermission.  Speed, aggression and desire physicality was what set the two teams apart.  Strong efforts from Dalton Crane and Bailey Baker helped thwart much of the Charger attack.  The Cougars play host to East Hartford on Thursday and will be looking to get back on the front foot going forward.
