  • On Thursday, January 16, all students will participate in the first round of the National Geographic Bee.  The first round will begin immediately after morning announcements on the TE TV News channel and take approximately 10 minutes.  Questions are designed to test knowledge of geography.  The top 10 students at TE will be invited to compete in the final and championship rounds.  At the end of March, our school winner will represent TE at the state level competition.  So, remember to bring a pencil to homeroom on Thursday.  Good luck!

  • The GSA will be starting up again for the new year! Do you want to help make TE more inclusive?  Do you want to help advocate for yourself and others?  Do you just want to get your voice heard and spend some time talking with friends about what matters to you?  If so, join us on Wednesday, January 15th, in Room 352.  See Mrs. Gulick for more details!

  • Today for lunch in the Create line you can have Jerk Chicken, in the Grill line you can have Philly Cheese Steak and in the So Deli line you can have your choice of deli sandwiches. Have a good day and do your best to strive for five!

  • Last Friday morning seventy five 6th, 7th and 8th graders participated in the in-school MathCounts competition.  The top eight scorers are invited to represent TE at the Hartford chapter MathCounts competition at the University of Hartford on  Saturday, February 2nd.  The top 4 scorers make up the TE Team and the 5th through 8th scorers will compete as individuals.  The top scorer, Yunfei Zheng not only placed first, but established a school record high score.  Placing 2nd through 4th and rounding out the TE Team are 8th grader, Sai Koppu; 6th grader, Aarush Kalia; and 7th Grader, Rishabh Mohapatra. Placing 5th though 8th and representing TE as individual competitors are, 8th graders, Sristhi Chowdhury; Shri Radhakrishnan; Arnav Thakrar; and 7th grader, Ryan Duong. Placing 9th and 10th are alternates Pranav Shankar, and Aricka Boosa. Rounding out the top 15 are Iris Wen, Advaith Satish, Jason Sigler, Rakshan Chadha, and Angelina Lee.  The competition was very competitive as only 8 points separated the 2nd place score and the 15th place score.  Congratulations to the top 8 scorers and all the students who competed last Friday for an outstanding effort.  MathCounts will meet this Friday.  We still have the New England Math League competition set for the end of February. Congratulations to the following students who qualified for the National Geographic Bee final round.  The competition will be held Friday, Jan. 18 in room 223 at 12:35.  From Indigo Team: Yunfei Zheng, Valli Penduala, and Angelina Lee. From Pacific Team: Sri Kiran Sripada,  from Cobalt Team: Rakshan Chadha, from Ruby Team: Thomas Jezowit and from Scarlet Team: Nandy Senthilkumar, Kavya Ramasamy, and Iris Wen. Great job everyone! 
  • The Outdoor Education Club has three upcoming trips.  We will be snow tubing at Powder Ridge on January 31st, then it’s either Nomads or Stone Age Rock Gym on February 28th, and lastly we will be going to the South Windsor Arena for ice skating on March 28th.  Please stop by the main office, see Mr. Wilkinson in room 112, or Ms. Nelson in room 251 for a form if you’re interested in any of these adventures.

  • The literary magazine Out of the Blue will meet after school today in room 312 in the Garnet hallway.  We hope you can make it!

  • Attention all 8th graders: A great opportunity is available to you!  The counseling department has been hosting  “business lunches” giving you a chance to talk to different people about their careers. It is now time to sign up for the January  Business Lunch!  Are you interested in Computer Game Designing?  Want to have a career in computer graphics, animation, or advertising?  If so, this is your opportunity to hear from Maura O’Connor, a professor at Manchester Community College.  Come find out what schooling you need to have and what careers are available in gaming and graphic arts. We are honored to have Maura O’Connor during the 8th grade lunch on Wednesday, January 16th. Be one of the first 15 students to sign up in the counseling office. This is a great opportunity you should not miss!
