TE Morning News - October 10, 2018 
  • Good morning TE. There's great news to share today. As of last night, we have raised over $10,000 for the Walk-a-Thon!!! Thank you to everyone that has registered and has been working hard to get donations for our school! We still need your help. We are still over $9,000 away from meeting our goal and just one week away from our Walk-a-Thon. If you haven't already, register at getmovincrew.com and start raising money for our school. Also, don't forget, we have another exciting raffle coming up tomorrow. Students that have raised at least $40 in donations will be entered for a chance to win one of three $40 Jump Off Trampoline Park gift cards. Good luck!

  • Our Walk-a-Thon and Spirit Week is taking place next week. Dress up each day to show your school spirit and come together as a school to raise money for our school. It's going to be a fun week! We look forward to seeing all the spirit wear. Here is the run down of what to wear:
    • Monday the 15th: Crazy Sock Day. Who has the weirdest socks out there TE?
    • Tuesday the 16th: Hawaiian Day, so wear your most tropical selections.
    • Wednesday the 17th: Walk-A-Thon day wear your school/ team t- shirts.
    • Thursday the 18th: Wear Pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
    • Friday the 19th: PJ Day, wear your comfy cozy outfits.
  • The 8th Annual Kenny Offiaeli 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held on November 9th from 5:30-8:00.  This tournament is open to all TEMS students.  Registration forms and checks must be handed in to the main office by Monday October 22nd.  Students may pick up a form in the main gym.
  • Do you like to help others?  Would you like to make a difference in your TE community? Then please consider joining the TEMS Friends Club.  It is an after school club that creates opportunities for peer interaction between children with exceptionalities and their peers in a friendly, social, environment. If you are interested in being a mentor in the TEMS Friends Club, please pick up an application from Mrs. Silverman in room 301.  The club will meet on Thursdays beginning October 25th. 
  • Attention all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders: The Outdoor Education Club will be having three adventures this October.  First is a bike trip around Block Island on Saturday, October 13th.  Then, on October 17th we will take a hike at Case Mountain in Manchester, and the last trip is to Foster Farm for the corn maze and hayride on October 24th.  Please see Mr. Wilkinson in room 112 or Ms. Nelson in room 251 or stop by the main office if you’re interested in any of these trips. All are welcome!

  • The TE Boys Soccer team competed twice in the past 4 days.  Though during both contests, the Cougars showed tremendous grit, finishing with a 1 and 1 record in the two matches. On Friday, TE battled Sage Park.  Joey Bemis got the shutout as the Cougars won 4-0. Aadi Dey scored two while Jake Gattuso and Jack Stricker finished out the scoring.  Dylan Huttton, Kyle Castro, Erik Montes de Oca, Vaughan Bizier and Anthony That were all strong in defense.  Last night the Cougars battled league leaders Ellington.  The Cougars fought hard but were upended 4 to 2.  Again, Gattuso and Dey found the net, the later on a penalty late in the match.  Up next the Cougars travel to Illing for a night game at 6:30 on Thursday.  

  • Sign up today for the 3rd Annual STEAM Olympics on Saturday October 27th! You must pre-register to participate in the exciting day. Join your friends and solve the TE Crime Scene Investigation mystery, build and launch a rocket and design and test out a bridge!! Registration forms can be found on the TEMS homepage or see Mr. Smith-Horn before homeroom in Stairwell "I" .......and remember YOU CAN SAVE 15% on YOUR CAR INSURANCE BY SWITCHING TO STAIRWELL "I".  

  • All skiers and snowboarders: registration for the TEMS Ski and Snowboard Club is open at the South Windsor Recreation Department.  The TEMS Ski and Snowboard Club will be traveling to Mount Southington on Wednesday nights for skiing and riding.  It is so much fun!  Register today at the Rec Department and let's hope for some great snow this winter!  See Mrs. Baker in room 362 if you have any questions!

  • Any 7th and 8th grade students interested in helping in the POP classrooms during B, C, or G study halls should sign up in guidance with Mrs. Jennings. Please indicate what rotation day and period you have study hall. Thank you!

  • Starting tomorrow the Field Hockey team will be selling beads in the main lobby for $1.00.  All proceeds will be donated to the CT Make A Wish Foundation.  This is a great way to show school spirit and our Strive For Five initiative. Brighten someones day with our brightly colored beads.  Beads will be on sale starting Thursday 10/11 and will continue until 10/19. The Field Hockey team would like to thank you in advance for your support!

  • Today for lunch... In the Create line you can have Chicken Nuggets. In the Grill line you can have Chicken Cordon Blue and in the On the Go line you can have your choice of deli sandwiches. Have a great day, do your best and remember to always strive for 5!
