  • Attention all 6th graders! Do you like to play with slime, create art, play trivia games, win prizes and hang out with friends?  Would you like to play some corn hole with Officer Roy, try yoga, play relay games or join a drum circle?! You can do all this and more at the Healthy Living Fest, held in the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 6th from 2:40-4:10.  This event is for 6th graders ONLY! Tickets are $5 each and will be sold in the lobby on Friday, Monday and Tuesday morning. NO tickets will be on sale the day of the program.  So bring in your ticket money and JOIN US for a FUN and HEALTHY afternoon!
  • Attention all cheerleaders: The end of the season party will be held in Mrs. Edwards classroom next Monday from 2:40-4:10.  Please let her know if you cannot attend.

  • Attention students who plan on trying out for a spring sport...Athletic tryouts forms are due by Friday, March 15th. Please check out the TE website for more details. Spring sports are baseball, softball and track and field.  

  • A big shout out 8th grader Matt Crusha for donating $36 to Pennies for Patients! Every donation makes a difference for patients battling cancer.  Today and tomorrow are the last days to help the cause and to get to our school goal of $300.  Thank you so much to all students and staff who have already donated!

  • T-shirt forms and money are due NO LATER than this Friday!

  • PAWS Conference permission slips are also due by this Friday.
  • It's time to check out and vote for the 2019 March Madness Book Brackets! To cast your vote, go to the LMC page, click on the March Madness Book Bracket link and next on the link for round 1 of voting. You don't have to have read the books; just vote for the title whose summary sounds the most interesting. The first round of voting will end on Thursday, March 7th. Don't get left out on the sidelines; make sure you have your say in this year's March Madness book winner! Please see Mrs. Longo if you have any questions.

  • Do you ever find a random penny in your couch? Or that quarter that pops up out of nowhere in your car? Well, bring it in for pennies for patients. Be the Change club is holding a fundraiser for local cancer patients until the end of February. You’ll find boxes located in your homerooms where you can place your donation. Even a penny counts, it will help our heroes to find justice. So help be the change by bringing in the change!
  • Just a reminder to all MathCounts participants. This Friday we will have the New England Math League Competition.  We will start promptly at 7:10 am. Be sure to be seated in the cafeteria no later than 7:05 am. Be sure to bring your calculator, pencil and eraser. This will be our last regular MathCounts get together. See you on Friday.

  • Attention all 8th graders:A great opportunity is available to you!  The counseling department has been hosting  “business lunches” giving you a chance to talk to different people about their careers. It is now time to sign up for the February Business Lunch!  Are you interested in becoming a doctor?   Want to have a career in the medical field?  If so, this is your opportunity to have lunch with Dr. Kelley Sturrock who is an obstetrician-gynecologist. Come find what it takes to become a doctor and what opportunities are available in the medical field! We are honored to have Dr. Kelley Sturrock during the 8th grade lunch on Thursday, February 28th. If you’re interested, Please sign up in the counseling office immediately following the morning announcements today.  Space is limited to 15 students.

  • Movie matinee is cancelled for this afternoon, it will be rescheduled for Monday, March 18th.

  • The Girls basketball team defeated Sage Park Thursday in overtime, by a score of 46-43.  The Cougars got in foul trouble early, and never had the lead until the overtime period.  However, the Cougars were able to take the lead behind the offensive talents of Anna Matus, 13 points, Blossom Iweka, 9 points, Ava Magarian and Olivia Petgrave, each with 8 points.  The team plays the last game of the season today at home against Ellington.  Come cheer on the Cougars as they march to the playoffs!

  • Over the weekend, a group of 8th graders, Abhinay Prabhuraj, Akshat Shenoi, Arvind Tirumala, Iniya Raja, Pranav Shankar, Shriharran Radhakrishnan, Sri Kiran Sripada, Trinayaan Hariharan and Vineet Kuchipudi from the Zeros and Ones team competed in the First Tech Challenge regional competition. First Tech Challenge is a robotics competition for people in 8th to 12th grades. Participants are not only challenged to design build and program but also promote First qualities such as gracious professionalism. Zeros and Ones won not one, not two but three awards qualifying them for the state level competition! They won first place in the design award ,  third place in the control award , and Second place in the inspire award. The team would like to thank all the help they received from the school and the community and especially from teachers Mr. Goric and Mr. Wilkinson. 

  • On Saturday, our TEMS Cheerleaders took the mat at the 16th Annual Windsor Warrior Cheerleading Competition.  The team, lead by 8th grader Kim Bentley, and Captains Kiara Plourde, Maddy Comella, Mikayla Allore, and Zuzu Dominguez went home with not only a 1st place trophy in the middle school division, but also scored more points than the HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY TEAMS of Windsor Locks, Simsbury, Southington, Farmington, and they almost beat Enfield by .5 of a point.  Another huge highlight of the competition was the fact that out of the 17 teams that competed, TEMS was the ONLY squad to walk away with zero deductions!!  Way to go Cougars!!

  • Attention all TE students who love to play volleyball.  Volleyball intramurals will be starting February 20th.  Come alone or grab some friends to play Volleyball or Nu Kem after school on late bus days.  Volleyball intramurals will be offered February 20th, 21st, 25th, 27th, 28th, and March 4th weather permitting.  If you are interested please pick up a permission slip in the boys or girls locker rooms. 

  • Attention any 8th grade student interested in trying out the the South Windsor High School's show choir, Choral Spectrum: You need to join the Spectrum Audition Google Classroom. The auditions will be held at the high school on February 25th at 5:00 pm. See Mrs. Gasta with any questions. 

  • Do you have a dog? Does it like treats? Then you're in luck. Homemade dog treats will be on sale before school this week in the main lobby on Tuesday and Wednesday. Treats will be only $1 a bag. Proceeds will benefit the specialty programs at TE.

  • If you have signed up for the Outdoor Ed. snow tubing trip, please pack up and meet in the lobby by the main office after school.  If you are unable to fit everything in your locker, please stop by Ms. Nelson's room in 251 and leave your stuff on the counter to be picked up after school.  We will change into our winter gear once we get to Powder Ridge, so no need to put on 8 million layers until we actually get there.  See you after school in the main lobby! 
  • Tomorrow, Friday, is Comfy, Cozy Day. Donate a $1.00 or a household item and wear your most comfortable clothes. Just comfy clothes please; no stuffed animals or big blankets. Thank you! 
  • The Girls Basketball team lost to JFK yesterday, in a tough game in Enfield.  The Cougars could not get the offensive juices flowing, and finished the first half with only 8 points.  The team came alive in the 4th quarter, but it was too late to defeat the Patriots on their home court.  Anna Matus led the team with 8 points, Jada Tran finished with 6 and Nour Abunasra chipped in 4.  Jahnavi Vadavalli, Emerson Iacovelli, and Blossom Iweka were solid on defense.  The team plays again today against Sage Park, in a game with major playoff implications.  The Cougars hope to lock up the number 3 spot with a win.
  • Be the Change Club needs you! We are trying to raise some profits at the basketball game this Monday for POPpers for Puppies, a fundraiser started by the preschool program here at TE.  We will be selling snacks and drinks so that we can donate the profits to POPpers for Puppies. Your money will support local animal rescue groups so they can help animals in need. See you at the game this Monday, and don’t forget to bring some money for snacks and donations to POPpers for Puppies!  
  • Attention all TE students who love to play volleyball.  Volleyball intramurals will be starting February 20th.  Come alone or grab some friends to play Volleyball or Nu Kem after school on late bus days.  Volleyball intramurals will be offered February 20th, 21st, 25th, 27th, 28th, and March 4th weather permitting.  If you are interested please pick up a permission slip in the boys or girls locker rooms.

  • The literary magazine Out of the Blue will meet after school on Monday February 11 immediately after school in Ms. Olsen's room.  Please bring submissions you have been working on.
  • Attention any 8th grade student interested in trying out the the South Windsor High School's show choir, Choral Spectrum: You need to join the Spectrum Audition Google Classroom, using the class code  "saij4m2".  All information can be found there.  Once again, that code is "saij4m2".  The auditions will be held at the high school on February 25th at 5 pm.   See Mrs. Gasta with any questions.

  • Good morning! Spirit for tomorrow, Thursday, is Grade Level Choice. For 6th grade it's crazy hair and mismatch day. For grade 7, it's color wars day,  so wear your favorite color. And for 8th grade, it's decades day, so you can wear an outfit from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. And don't forget to bring a $1 or a household item for Friday's comfy cozy day!
  • The T-shirts are back, the t-shirts are back!!! Back by popular demand, we have decided to open orders for team t-shirts for a limited time. These team t-shirts can be ordered through a link on the school website. Sales will be through February 10th, and no late orders will be accepted.   • The Girls basketball team defeated a tough East Hartford team yesterday, by a score of 32-27.  The Cougars had a balanced offense, getting points from 7 different players.  Leading the way with 9 points was Ava Magarian and Olivia Petgrave had 6.  Anna Matus chipped in 5 and Jada Tran added another 4.  Defensively, the Cougars were led by Reagan Heafey-Deangelis with 2 steals and Princess Black with 6 rebounds.  The team continues the push to the playoffs with a game today at JFK and tomorrow at Sage Park.

  • This past Saturday, 25 local schools and 192 students participated in the Hartford Chapter MathCounts competition at the University of Hartford.  Yunfei Zheng, Aarush Kalia, Sai Koppu, Rishabh Mohapatra, Arnav Thakrar, Sristhi Chowdhury, Shri Radhakrishnan, and Ryan Duong represented TE at the competition.   The TE team of Yunfei, Aarush, Sai, and Rishabh placed TE a very impressive second in the competition, earning the right to compete in the State competition in March.  Yunfei led TE by placing first individually among the 192 competitors.  Aarush and Sai followed in 7th and 8th place individually, and Rishabh placed 12th.  Arnav and Sristhi placed 20th and 25th, both earning an invitation back to the State competition.  Yunfei not only placed first in the written portion of the competition, he also placed first in the very intense head to head competition.  This is the second year in a row TE students took top individuals honors in both portions of the Chapter competition.  Once again, it was a very impressive day of math for our school.  Congratulations to Yunfei, our team, and individuals for their fine efforts.  Good luck at the State competition.

  • The boys lost a tough game against Tolland yesterday 57-48.  The game was close throughout, but some good free throw shooting by late in fourth secured the win.
